Got a good one boys. The only time he should be out is when he wants to be. Heck of a game mr. Moss!
Moss was one of the main reasons the Hawkeyes
beat Iowa St. tonight, His 14 points were second
only to the 23 of Jok. He played good defense and
hit crucial shots at crunch time. He should remain
in the starting lineup.
We're going to be very happy that Moss redshirted last year. You can see the improvement just from game 1 through game 10 tonight. We've got 3.5 more years of him. At that point he'll be a 22-23 year old senior, aka a fully grown man on the court, with Pemsl and Cook in their fourth year out there with him too. Not to mention everybody else coming in over the next few years.
Yep. His drives to the basket remind me of Roy Marble. He just glides in while everyone else is stil standing.Someone else said this on a different thread but he is very bouncy quick leaper
Agree, not a fan at all of RS guards, only projects like Olaseni (someone with a high ceiling but played very little basketball). If it doesn't work out with the player (ie he's not very good, etc), why do you want to tie up a scholarship for 5 years? HS kids play so much AAU ball and around the year, I'm not sure how much improvement you are going to see with the redshirt. My motto would be no redshirts and play 'em early.Maybe he skips his 5th year. RS a big project makes sense, like Olaseni. Guards less so.
One word - academics. Gave Moss time to settle in. Hopefully IA will have him for 4 years now.Agree, not a fan at all of RS guards, only projects like Olaseni (someone with a high ceiling but played very little basketball). As a freshman Moss might be the best position defender on the team. He was on Morris most of the first half when IA was in man and he just seemed to manhandle him. Moss is a lot stronger and longer than opponents give him credit for. He is going to be a great player to have over the next 3-4 years.
And sometimes it takes time for a player to "get it". Maybe that's the case with Moss.just to add...sometimes it takes coaches a little while to come around (they are not perfect)

Meh. Still not a fan of redshirting. In football it makes sense, but makes little sense in basketball. One word - academics. Gave Moss time to settle in. Hopefully IA will have him for 4 years now.
I agree but in the case of academics, it can be invaluable. You can't play your SO yr, if you flunk out playing your FR year.Meh. Still not a fan of redshirting. In football it makes sense, but makes little sense in basketball.
Yeah but who was he gonna play in front of last year? It's a guards game sure. And three years from now, we'll have one that's a year more mature and stronger than his counterparts.Meh. Still not a fan of redshirting. In football it makes sense, but makes little sense in basketball.
Again, meh. He could have been the first guard off the bench to spell AC or MG. If he played last year he'd be further ahead this year. He would have started the season as the 2. Practice doesn't come close to simulating what you are going to see in actual games, especially in the B1G. Plus, you would have your scholarship allotments spread out more evenly, so that in 4 years we don't have a repeat of this year where you are starting 3 freshman.Yeah but who was he gonna play in front of last year? These guys have tutors and every academic advantage a student can have. If the kid is such an academic risk then you have to wonder why Fran recruited him in the first place. Fran knew he needed experienced bodies this year as so many players were graduating.I agree but in the case of academics, it can be invaluable. My son and some friends were at the game last night. Friends of Jordan and were waiting for him after the game, and happened to chat with Moss' family. Moss came out first and went up to my son (because they were next to his family) and friends and introduced himself, looked them each in the eye, and thanked them each for coming to the game and supporting the team.
