Came into this thread ready to say boxing should be #1. I boxed for years and it’s extremely difficult and exhausting.

Golf is the greatest game in the world. The ultimate competition....Vs. Oneself. No one influences what you do, other than you, the competitor. Your opponent doesn’t buffet you around, doesn’t move or influence your golf ball or affect the course of play one iota. It’s all you Vs. you...and your skill level.

I was going to say that hockey should be up there.

I have only tried to ice skate a couple times. I couldn't imagine trying to skate fast or backwards while controlling a small puck with a stick and attempting to avoid hits in the process

This list seems to reflect the amount of physical effort required to do the sport. Also possibly the mental toughness.

Golf, while simple to become a pedestrian player, is one of the most difficult games to master. Drawing, fading and knocking down the ball and reading the course is an art.
Agree. I’ve coached soccer, volleyball, baseball, and basketball, and play golf. I play golf regularly and don’t think I could ever coach or teach it despite many lessons and years of play. Seldom can I look at a person’s swing and tell them one thing to change to get better. Golf is the toughest mentally, there are so many factors. Physically there are so many moving parts and variables. Every shot is different. Weather conditions, and even the time of day affects the roll of the green.

I have a friend that was an all state HS baseball, and all conference basketball, and football player. Went to a historically black college on a partial dance scholarship of all things. He’s never broke 80, which is the minimum marker of an accomplished golfer, IMO. Look at Charles Barkley, or better yet, don’t. There’s a guy that starred in basketball and would have been a pro FB player.

I don't know about you folks but surfing was pretty dam hard to learn. Till you can become average at it the waves and being stuck under water just beat the sht out of you.

My list would start with free soloing. I know some may not call climbing a true sport, but it requires incredible athletic prowess and endurance in pursuit of a specific goal.

Plus it has the added excitement that if you lose, you die. Nothing else on the list comes close to the danger level.

I don't know how you quantify such different activities in order to rank them but...yeah...this is #1 AINEC.
