We have five beds in our home. About three years ago she bought each bed a new fangled super duper mattress. Now she sez she is over them and out they are going to go, all five of them. She tells me the new ones are "self cooling" will have a ten year warranty....which leads me to this question - how often do you guys buy a new mattress?

I agree with that. If there are 4 of the 5 that hardly ever get used, and only by guests, then there's no reason to replace them - especially after 3 years. Replace yours. The occasional guests will be fine with the others.

Most people that can't afford a mattress don't complain about getting a free one.

As far when we replace ours, when we need to. One lasted only 4 years the current one is going on 6 or so.

To answer your question, got a new mattress about 2 years ago. Seems like it took almost a year to get it broken in. It’s great now but I was almost ready to get rid of it after six months. The mattress before that. I’m not sure to be honest. Probably about 10-12 years. The last year you could tell the support was getting worse. Just wasn’t sleeping as well.
