MSU

Kris should be able to get just about any shot he wants with Hauser on him. I think tomorrow is all about which version of Tony Perkins shows up. He'll have the Hoggard assignment and Tony can't let Hoggard get into the lane whenever he wants like OSU was able to do last Saturday.

So tired of watching stronger players simply back down the Hawks into the lane and make a short jumper, but I imagine we're going to see more of that tonight.

As usual, Hawks are going to need to shoot well to get this one.

All depends on how the game is called and the pace of play. If it gets too fast, MSU will run us out of the gym.

Also, going on memory, when we beat them it's typically because they make a lot of unforced turnovers. Hopefully they're sloppy with the ball tonight.

Well Iowa is the 1st place scoring team in the conference and MSU is 9th.

Not sure the bolded makes a whole lot of sense.

If we're talking about msu and iowa teams of a decade ago maybe.

Game will come down to, can Iowa hit 3s, play half assed respectable defense and clean up the defensive glass.

That's pretty much the formula most nights.

Our defense usually goes how our offense does. If we aren't playing good offense, our defense will suck and we still tend to play fast (usually even faster) along with the bad defense.

This will not bode well vs. the Spartans at Breslin and they would hang 90+ like OSU did.

Our high scoring is due to an efficient offense, not a high number of possessions offense.

He's sticking to it! MSU, who is 283rd in pace, has the fast pace advantage over Iowa, who is 49th. Dig those heels.

Not saying that. Saying that if we aren't efficient offensively and it becomes and up and down game, we're in trouble.

For reference, Ohio State is #185. Shouldn't be a problem, right? We're 130+ spots better.

Iowa plays at the fastest pace and has the highest number of possessions per game in the conference. So it stands to reason that Iowa isn't going to lose because the game is too fast.

Playing shity defense and being too small on the interior to rebound is not the same thing as the pace of the game.

Iowa didn't lose to osu because the pace was too fast they lost because they let osu back them down the lane all second half and get point blank shots. Osu only had 3 fast break points.

Iowa also turned the ball over 16 times which was probably the biggest factor. Since Iowa doesn't really play defense they can't afford turnovers.

OSU had nine fast break points. Granted not a lot, but when you're middle of the pack at pace of play, 93 points is a ton.

We have to make shots. I agree with that. I also think we need to slow things down and make it more of a half court game. Guess we'll see.

You're right I looked at the wrong box score. It was 9.

Still. It wasn't pace that beat Iowa it was bad half court defense and turnovers.

Michigan state and Wisconsin have ruined big ten basketball over the last two decades. I hope for nothing but pain and misery for their programs and their fans.

The officiating has been this way for years for Michigan State, whether at home or away. Foul hard, foul often, eventually they will quit calling them. For reference, check out Heavens! on Twitter. He has some great examples from last night's game.

(I'd provide a link but don't know how)

Can’t ask for more effort. A few too many turnovers. Had a great shot to win it at the end! Go Hawks!
