I truly believe the committee will set up tonights poll to make next week make sense. I think they got embarrassed a little bit last year and ended up being bailed out by OSU.. A couple things I predict!

1. If Iowa drops below Michigan State they are prepping to drop Iowa below OSU with a loss. If Iowa stays at #4 and OSU at #6 I think they are leaving room for Iowa to make the Rose in a close loss.
2. If UNC doesn't jump up dramatically (top 7) then I don't think they are giving them any chance at making that top 4 if Stanford wins their conference championship.
3. If Stanford is ranked ahead of UNC I'm guessing they would intend to take them over a 1 loss UNC even if the Heels beat Clemson..
4. If Iowa jumped to #2 (unlikely but maybe they are ready to reward 12-0) I think that could be them saying with some chaos a 12-1 Iowa WOULD be taken over a non conference championship participant in OSU..
5. If Wisconsin jumps into top 25 and NW into top 10 they may be building Iowa's case at 12-1 if either Clemson or Alabama lost instead of a Stanford or OSU..

Good analysis. I agree with your premise of setting up expectations for the following week. There's, however, no way we jump to #2 and there's no way if we lose we make the playoff.

I agree! Just noting if it were to happen they might have some thoughts beyond the BT title game!

Very thoughtful and well thought out. I think you should be on the committee. Really.

Too much love for Oklahoma and Alabama to have Iowa jump into top 3. IMO Iowa will be lucky to hold on to the 4 spot. I also believe that if Iowa loses to MSU that they will easily drop below OSU. While it's obvious some on the committee really like Iowa, I also believe there is very likely a segment that has just been waiting for the Hawks to falter. Timing of course is everything and an Iowa team with one loss to a high quality opponent will not be given the same leeway as an Oklahoma team with a very bad loss and Alabama team with quite frankly a bad loss considering it happened in Tuscaloosa. That's the way I read the tea leaves anyway.

NW at 14... cool... Glad they could bump LSU, and Ole miss for good ole Bama. North Carolina gets no respect.

Looks like 1 loss UNC will not get in if Stanford wins the PAC-12.. Unless if the committee wants to be a joke again..

They set it up for Stanford to make it first if there is an upset then OSU if there's 2 upsets. If B1G championship is within 7 or less then loser should stay ahead of OSU and go to Rose Bowl because MSU beat OSU and Iowa won division and went undefeated in regular season.

I agree.. Now tell me what happens if Alabama loses to Florida, Stanford loses to USC, and Iowa loses 38-35 in OT to Michigan State..

Did anyone else notice the graphic at the end of the show. Their projections?

What I found interesting is they pondered if MSU beats Iowa would MSU jump Oklahoma or Alabama, They all felt the answer was no, I guess it never occurred to them to wonder if Iowa beats MSU would an undefeated Iowa jump a one loss Oklahoma or a 1 loss Alabama, Seems like a legit question to debate to me since they were willing to wonder about it if MSU wins.

If Oklahoma jumps Iowa by beating Okie State while Iowa beats Nebraska, I would like to think that Iowa would jump right back over them by beating MSU while Oklahoma is idle.

here

No way we could stay above OSU (or several other 1 loss teams) if we lose. The reality is our SOS is a big liability. If we lose by two scores or more we will drop like a stone.

I guess we will just have to win!

Unless the committee decides not to punish Iowa for having to play an extra game. Since we were ahead at the end of the regular season, keep us ahead after CCG. This assumes the MSU game is close.
