Musk run companies receive the most government contract dollars
Runs a giant media platform that can adjust the algorithm to amplify any narrative
Was the largest donor last election cycle
Now going to be in charge of deciding how government dollars should be spent.
If you’re a competitor of Tesla, Twitter, or any company he still owns a piece of. That puts you at a huge competitive disadvantage. Musk needs to pick a lane. Can’t be in the government with that much power and be CEO of all of those companies.

Care to quantify this? I am not sure this is accurate. Government contracts with Boeing, Northrop, GD, various shipbuilding companies, tons of various computing (cloud, HW/SW). I’d like to see how they compare. I am sure SpaceX’s contract is nice & healthy but you have to admit, they’re getting the work done cheaper than NASA would.

Competitors are well aware.

They don’t care.
Instant validation of your point:

Worded it poorly. But you have to admit it keeps any new competitors from entering the market. I’m sure even SpaceX will have upstarts that can deliver some key components more effectively. But now those can be squashed. So much for meritocracy. The bigger issue is Tesla which isn’t a great car company or Twitter that is a mediocre social media company. Now own a huge strategic advantage.
How would you like if Bill and Melinda Gates were given an office in the White House under Obama and then put in charge vaguely of a brand new bureaucracy. With large powers of controlling government spending.

It’s the fox watching the hen house.

Get ready for record deficits and the national debt to surge exponentially. Trump spending will make Obama spending look like child’s play.

At the very least, Trump should have given out lube to all the low-life rednecks attending his rallies this year in preparation for just how badly he’s going to bend them over during his second term.

MAGA

He is doing this out of the kindness of his heart…

It’s not even the fox watching the hen house. The fox is the farmer, the banker, wholesaler, truck driver etc. Putting him in charge of every step of production of the chicken.

I see your point,.. Minus the White House office, I didn't particularly like this at all,.. However, I got over it and so will you.

Well Musk, Jobs, Gates, etc run under the reality distortion field. Great for starting new businesses. When one fails move onto the other hoping for a hit. If they fail a government ran operation let’s say drinking water for a major city. Flint’s project was done in the name of efficiency and cost. Love Canal was efficient.
If I was to make a study of several rural areas in Iowa I’d cut off all government funding. Don’t think it’s efficient for people to live there. Net loser.

Holy Eff - you are way off.

SpaceX is not the top contractor and comes in at # 53 on the list. UAL is ahead of them at # 39 amongst all the others.

At a time when CNN and the like are laying off media, do you wonder why you’re seeing so much anti-Musk rhetoric? Keep slurping!

Doesn’t matter I’m only looking forward. :). Thought I read around 10 billion annually in various government spending programs. SpaceX is a great company no doubt. I question his ability to influence government spending on competitors. The man has a ton of irons in the fire. And claims to be the greatest gamer in the world. He’ll lie directly or indirectly to you and twist arms to get what he wants. It’s certainly not a meritocracy or capitalism.

I watched Solid Gold Cadillac the other day.

The idea that you’d sell your company before taking a cabinet position so there wouldn’t be the appearance of impropriety seems so quaint.

Definitely indicative of decline.
Remember the colossal check Dick Cheney got from Halliburton. Not even a peep. It’s become so common Rifler just accepts it. And look what happened when we just accepted then. 4000 lives and 6 trillion later.

Appears you are the one on your knees. We’re going to Mars. Step one rocket to Mars. Step two die.
The fact remains his companies have a vested interest to keep the spending coming. I point the finger at Tesla because right now it doesn’t appear it’s warranted.

Musk and Trump keep hyping Mars. But Starship isn't going to Mars anytime soon with people (even with Musk robbing the feds for more cash) It can't get to orbit yet, let alone to the Moon (which they have a NASA contract for and they are behind schedule - tbf so is NASA). People aren't going to be on Mars for a while. It's 6 months there with current technology and you don't come back for 2 years due to the orbital position of the planets (unless you want to blow a ton more fuel, which you don't have room for), and then it's 6 months back. 3 year total trip at best. That doesn't even deal with having enough fuel, food, water, and everything else needed to survive staged before you arrive. If something goes wrong, it's the same span before any rescue can come and you again have to wait for the window to return. If something goes wrong on the way there you're screwed. It's a suicide mission right now.

Get to the Moon, several times successfully, before hyping man landing on Mars.

Moon colonization should be the priority. But I’m sure that doesn’t sound as dramatic. We’re going to the moon. So what we’ve been there. :). Robotics have to level up significantly for Mars colonization to even be in the realm of possible. Humans are to fragile for Mars.

I’ll predict it now. Moon University will win the CFP before Miami.

So going to Mars is bad now? 30-40 years ago it was a shared ambitious dream.

So many others feed off the gov’t teet, why do you single out Musk? There are dozens who are worse and all they do is make stuff for war, rip us off on insurance, and wasteful consulting all day long.

But you point the finger at Tesla who just happened to make a car many Americans wanted (and purchased)?

Get to the moon first and develop greater robotics that can handle Mars. Then we can talk about pouring more into it. Although there is a moon around Jupiter already that is probably a better candidate. Of course the distance makes it problematic.
Musk won’t stick to just consulting. He’s already insisted that he’ll spend to primary Republicans that vote against his interests. Giving him more access and power isn’t smart. Especially with Twitter and how he can amplify or squash a narrative with some key strokes.
As for Tesla those cars folks bought were designed by previous founders/owners. The things he’s put forward haven’t been good. Cyber truck. Autonomous bus ran by remote puppet controls are his babies. He’s an entrepreneur hits and misses are part of the game.
When government misses it’s not as simple as just walking away. See the last brilliant entrepreneur that felt Flint’s water was inefficient.

Musk complains about government spending but conveniently never mentions the handouts his companies have gotten and continue to get as areas that can be cut.
The Dragon fails to see how none of his competitors have a direct line to the POTUS and a government bureaucrat position involved with spending. Those factors are why I single out Musk. He’s uniquely positioned to put his thumb on the decision scales.

And? Other leaders don’t complain about government spending? Do you think the hundreds of millions of shareholders of all the other contractors don’t complain about government spending. Musk just has a bigger microphone but is just like the rest.

Your media sources are losing to Musk so they’re telling you to hate Musk. All the guy did was make the first EV’s Americans actually wanted en masse, create internet for 3rd world countries that is affordable, shoot up the government’s satellites at a fraction of the cost, develop a new reusable launch system capable of larger payloads, develop neurallink integration to help patients,………

We used to cheer this type of shit on decades ago. Now y’all hate because the dude doesn’t bow down to the Dems. Start thinking for yourself.

Holy eff!!!

You really want to make the claim that the leaders and boards of Northrop, Raytheon, GD, Boeing, IBM, AWS, UHC, Deloitte, Accenture don’t have a line???? Shit, Bezos, Cook, Zuck were all behind him on Monday. Ellison gave a joint press conference with him on Wednesday. Where is the hate for those guys??

**** man, those people dominate the lobbying industry. They practically prop up the entire beltway.

If you’re going after Musk, go after all of them and at least be consistent!

Maybe you’re right! You know, 25+ years ago the country said the same shit about Ted Turner and all that got us was the DNC’s own 24/7 news channel.

My favorite part of your posts is that you're a Republican telling them this. Just like all the rational, old school Republicans that they have tuned out, who they TOTALLY AGREED WITH FOR YEARS, once Trump came along.

Like I have said about MSNBC, they have multiple REAL Republicans hosting shows on there, including the former head of the RNC, and MAGA Republicans dismiss them as quickly as they do Rachel Maddow.

Which ones of the companies you mention here have CEO's standing on stage giving Nazi salutes and on a stage dancing along with Trump? Which ones have an ACTUAL POSITION in the American government?

Since Trump, it no longer does.
