Musk has driven Twitter/X so far into ground, it's the worst performing merger since the 2008 financial crash . . .

Contrary to prior direction, the cult has now directed hive members to accept that Elon is a failure and Kamala is a genius...

Yes, when new ownership ruins the vibe and the culture, the entire enterprise suffers.
Yeah, but a lot of that was a stupid partisan over-reaction. From the gitgo Elon was attacked because he took away their toy. (granted, since he has become more political)

But in general I've always had a dismal view of people who can't tolerate being around people that don't think like themselves. Today's left likes to do this more than it should and I'll always give them shit for it.

I just thought it was funny because if they had actually stayed active on twitter it wouldn't look so out of balance like it does today.

They left because he invited Nazis back and started running gross ads.

If my favorite restaurant started letting homeless people in the lobby and replaced my favorite dinner with shit on a shingle, I'd stop going there as well.

Your victim blaming is cute, though.

Ok, but I think that's a lousy point of view.

All kinds of people with all kinds of terrible ideas exist in the "real world" -- yet you exist amongst them. All he did on twitter was make it more "real world" like. And that's how moderation works, can be less, can be more.

If you ran away because some deplorables were allowed to exist on the platform then you suck.

Stupid left leaning media completely overvalued any negative consequences of this, too.

This is among the dumbest arguments I've heard in awhile, and that's remarkable.

Your contention is consumers are obligated to continue supporting a business that abandons its moral compass and shittifies its product?

Absurd on its face.

You do your hypocritical thing. I’ll be here to call your whiny ass out when you comment on things that don’t affect you. Though it’ll be tough for me to catch them all, you’re constantly contradicting yourself.

Well I'm glad you've found a purpose for your life,.. see you around.

Now that was a dumb argument. Of course I wasn't saying that. Nobody is obliged to do anything.

I was saying:
1) I dislike people that pick up their ball and go home.
2) Their moral compass was largely stupid. That's right, dumb. They weren't right thinking.

They're perfectly free to be petty and dumb.

(but if they weren't Twitter would probably look a lot better to them, ironically enough)

People who don't want to hang out with Nazis and be inundated with ads for cheap Chinese shit, boner pills and porn are "petty and dumb?"

You're a frigging idiot, lol.

Lol lefties still bitter about free speech. Amazing. 85% overhead gone and performance is up! Leftist boycotting will end as user metrics are way up. Nobody cares about Facebook anymore. The times they are a changing

Who tf do you follow that you're seeing any of this on your feed? Either you're looking for this stuff or it's more hysterical hyperbole.

The nazi point is totally over-valued. You're not "hanging out" with them. It's just that certain speech that would've been prohibited before was now allowed, basically. Twitter had plenty of unsavory weirdos before if you went looking for them, but it was always rather segregated. I'm not sure it would've been any different.

I attributed the reaction moreso to simple presence of something, regardless of whether or not you interact with it. For a while substack was being attacked and boycotted over having some authors who were nazi/white supremacists.

It's a faulty line of thinking.

We would've had better advertisements and the like if there wasn't the stupid panic that we saw ensue as soon as Musk took ownership.

It is a tired playbook that people like torbs adhere to. Different opinions means that those people are NAZIS!!! He was fine when the people that controlled it actively tried to kill free speech while at the same time calling others fascists. Truly remarkable.

Another thing: all the predictions of twitter's technological demise on the basis of mass layoffs turned out to be nonsense. Which was predictable.

Another thing 2: Elon has really ****ed up by being way too hands on and political with twitter. (not sure if he has tweaked algorithms to show political content he favors, but, pathetic if he did)

That isn't going to exactly going to attract dissenting viewpoints.

Another thing 3: In way, this is all a bit moot as twitter has and (probably always will be) a blight on society where political/social discussion is concerned. Elon didn't change the most damaging algorithms. So in the end it's just one sort of shit vs another.

I don't think he's saying that different opinions than his own = nazis.

I just don't agree with the sentiment that we should completely disassociate with people or (entity's that allow for people) with viewpoints you find reprehensible.

I don't operate that way I don't think you should either.

Now that doesn't mean that in a conversational format (like a message board) that you might not want to have to deal with certain people.

But I saw the argument more as the simple rejection of the person existing on the platform at all -- that if they are on this platform I'm not going to be. As though it was tacit support of that person of their viewpoints.

For alleged pro-capitalists, you fellas sure seem to have a problem when the marketplace of idea passes judgement.

Colonoscopy: the customer is always WRONG.

🤣
I wasn't coming at this from the perspective of markets. Fat people with diabetes eat at McDonalds. It's not as though markets necessitate we respect the decision making of consumers as intelligent.

“Different opinions”, eh Hexum? This is okay?…

“The original X user's post claimed Jews "have been pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them."

Musk responded, "You have said the actual truth" while also criticizing the Anti-Defamation League, an advocacy group that works to combat hate against Jewish people. "The ADL unjustly attacks the majority of the West, despite the majority of the West supporting the Jewish people and Israel. This is because they cannot, by their own tenets, criticize the minority groups who are their primary threat," Musk tweeted.”

Musk just spouts the exact same rhetoric as Neo-Nazis and literally endorses them. No biggie…

Must be a figment of my imagination:

Twitter has 500 million regular users, and your point is 150 verified nazi accounts is some sort of Nazi twitter invasion invited and encouraged by Musk? Jfc dude. Why can't we just have one left leaning poster with some level headedness? Just one.

What a hilarious last couple sentences. You’re always good for sniffing your own farts while never saying anything of substance, Gerald Broflovski.

He's obviously plenty intelligent and loves to run his mouth. Plus, like someone else has said, on balance he's done a lot more good for the world than bad.

People judge way too much on the basis of personal politics and behavior where good to society is concerned.
Hard disagree. He put a truck on the market that insurance companies are deciding not to insure.

People are going to get killed by Cyber truck failures.

10 years ago I was also a fan of Elon. Now I know better.

Let us know when you reach adulthood and others might start to take your posts seriously. Until then, maybe stick to lurking here and save the childish name calling for your buddies on CoD.

Sure thing, Gerald. You’re so sophisticated & mature. I wish I made comments like “All lefties are so dumb & I’m so smart.” People should aspire to the delicate genius that you are.

Nah. It’s all the trans stuff. Musk has a child who is trans. He couldn’t handle it, started going down the culture war rabbit hole and even disowned his own kid. He has a LGBTQ axe to grind and he found an outlet he could control in Twitter and a willing political stooge to take his money in Trump.

I think you are conflating the true issue, with the one the media has pushed.

Have you been paying any sort of attention to the failures of the Cybertruck? Panels falling off. Wipers not working? Rain getting everywhere?

People waited 5 years for this truck to roll off the line. Man I can’t wait to see the results of a single winter on this “truck”.

He's a flawed person, but my point still stands: it's basically net social output that we should care about.

Dangerous trucks would be a minus.
Depending on how his foray into politics goes, could be minuses there too.

But you have to include all the pluses. Do the math, see how it turns out.

What's the net positive on making internet a reality for millions of people in locations where it wasn't possible before via starlink?

See, you have to include all of that.

And I suppose you could make the argument... well, if not him, somebody else would have eventually done that.

But that goes for almost any agent of change. You could've said that about MLK.

So you quit going to Starbucks?
