I thoroughly enjoyed watching this game. I usually get worked up and angry during basketball games but this one was actually fun to watch even in a loss.

- Michigan couldn’t miss. They didn’t miss layups. They didn’t miss free throws. They didn’t miss three pointers. They had a hot hand tonight. Knowing they were that hot before the game I’d have thought we would have lost by 30. Some of that was probably our defense but I thought the energy was there but Michigan passes really well and just didn’t miss tonight.

- Garza was amazing. Probably the main reason the game was so fun to watch. I hope this keeps up because he will help the program during the next 1.5+ years.

- Michigan is really good. They could have doubled Garza but why do that when you’re winning the game anyway. Doubling Garza would have left our 3 point shooters open.

- Our 3 point shooters were pretty much silent but I felt like they kept giving it to Garza since he was so hot instead of forcing 3s that seemed weren’t open. Michigan had a great game plan to shut down our 3 point shooters. Open shots were rare.

- Fran has great inbounds plays. I seem to expect an easy score on 70% of our inbounds. Seems like other teams have no answer and on their inbounds just throw it deep. Good job Fran.

- I think we could win this game 30%+ of the time if replayed on a neutral court. Michigan is good but with Garza we aren’t far behind.

Yes Michigan is a very very good team. But you do realize Louisville held them under 50 the other night? I really like the fact that Fran pushes the ball but please figure out how to stop or even slow down a ball screen offense.

Mich’s Damn ft shooting is what pissed me off. They couldn’t miss.

Their few misses were in garbage time.

They had to be shooting 95% from the line up until the final 5 min of the game. The game was over by the time they missed a few.

Michigan is really good, so chalk this up to a decent effort I guess. It's pick your poison with Michigan. Give up 3's or dunks. Iowa did both. It's a comedy act watching this team play D again. Same plays over and over and over with the same result. Wieskamp made Wagner look like Usain Bolt. I am not going to comment on Pemsl's play other than to say I look forward to seeing more of Till.

We have a few positions where our team speed is just too slow. Joe T. is fine, Bakari Evelyn has shown me absolutely nothing. We deserve a few more three point baskets because last night we were being outscored three to two and that is what got Michigan their lead. If we can't move the ball inside and out or side to side to give Jordan, Weiskap, and CJ a few three attempts we will continue to lose by getting outscored three to two.

I agree with this 100%. I didn't get to watch much of the 2nd half, but in the first half we made 1 of 4 and they made 6 of 13 three attempts (go ahead and do the math). And Garza was going nuts and playing hard. All of that got us a double digit deficit at halftime.

In today's game if youre not attempting a fair amount of 3's you're going to get left behind. Not only that, but now you've got 4 players standing around the perimeter and not getting involved in the flow of the game, not getting into any sort of rythm on their own shot, range, etc.

I don't think Michigan cared all that much that Garza was eating them alive for 2 point baskets.

Michigan is a better team and Basketball program, so they're going to be tough for Iowa to beat regardless, but at least how we played in the first half is a recipe for losing in 2019 Basketball.

You have to have more balance inside and out, unless you're a lockdown defense you've got little chance of winning, IMO. We trailed by double digits for much of the game, and Michigan to their credit was lights out at the free throw line so that didn't help, but if we're attempting to free up someone for more 3's and actually making a fair amount of them, MAYBE we actually win this game.

We scored 91 points, lost by double digits, and as far as I know the last time we lead was about 6 minutes into the game. But I guess we're supposed to be happy we didn't lose by 30.

As our old buddy Herm Edwards says "you play to win the game".

Good analysis, Not sure any team in the country would have beat Michigan tonight.

Not sure any team in the country would have played as poor of D as Iowa did last night....beyond frustrating the open threes and easy shots at the rim they got all night.

Michigan looked really good. I’m no basketball expert by any stretch but they seemed unstoppable to me. I don’t think you can blame anyone on Iowa’s team for the result. A more aggressive Weiscamp would help though.

A more aggressive Wieskamp is the only thing you could think of that would have helped? Did you happen to watch when Iowa was on defense?

Where did I state I was giving an exhaustive list of things that would have helped? And yes, I did watch their defense.

Like in any sport, it's always about defense. We know Fran is as good at teaching defense as KF is at teaching offense. Maybe if Fran would take over as KF's OC and Phil Parker took over Fran's defense, we'd have Big Ten champions and national champion threats in both football and basketball every year. Iowa might be like Ohio State is now. But you can't win championships on one side of the ball. Too bad we have two head coaches who can't figure that out.
