Legit question, I was thinking the same thing. Having a national champ camp, without an Iowa or Iowa State champ is absurd. I wouldn’t give Marky Mark any of my money. Replace him with an Iowan, heck yes. I do have to say that is an amazing group of wrestlers. Camp should be called “Fun Infinity”

It isn't a legit question. It is a question demanding an answer from someone who owes you or anybody else here no answer, despite the sense of self importance some anoint themselves with.

People are putting an effort forth to give kids from the Iowa area (and surrounding states) a high quality camp.

If you think it is a disgrace to have Mark or Zain or whoever as camp clinicians then by all means, get up off your rear end and organize your own camp and run it the way you see fit. We know that isn't happening though. Easier to bytch about someone else's efforts.

I appreciate anyone helping the sport and kids in wrestling. I just find it insulting to the state, I personally wouldn’t send my kid to this camp. I’m sure this guy is doing a great job and has good intentions, but it is stuff like this that adds up and makes kids go to PSU and OSU..and in Iowa we don’t have much room for error with Talent. Just my .02, and it may only be worth that

And I said nothing about Zain, a matter of fact I really like Zain and Nolf. Just maybe throw a bone to an Iowa NC too. Idk maybe they did reach out to some, that’s why this is a message board. But to come on our board and advertise this, I think it’s fair to ask questions.

Don't be so shocked when someone comes to the Iowa board advertising wrestling camps that always features PSU/OSU counselors (and never any Iowa guys) and gets asked about it. Iowa/Iowa State have had national champs too.

And yes, I have sent my boys to these camps before with Stieber, Taylor, etc. They were great with the kids. I wouldn't expect it to be any different with this year's set of camps.

I’m not trying to be disrespectful of the camp runner, just have questions.

These could be the compliance areas that Iowa interprets differently than PSU or other schools. In the past, a majority of these camps have been with wrestlers that have used their eligibility. Then the pay isn’t a factor. But since PSU has had more champs, they have more kids to roll through these camps and now think it’s OK to get paid for putting this in. It sure seems like there is a benefit to using their names and that would likely be against NCAA rules, but it’s left to the schools compliance departments.

Who was last National Champ for ISU or UNI? Do you know if they do camps similar to these?

Gadsen, and thanks for the info.

Sorry I didn't even know people were posting on this as I didn't get any notifications, I just happened to see it today.

I actually brought in Dan Dennis this year at the start of the year as a free clinic for my wrestling club members. They were pretty surprised when they walked into the wrestling room and Dan Dennis was there! I have had a lot of Iowa Hawkeye and Cyclone wrestlers do camps for me through the years: Dan Gable, Metcalf (multiple camps), Perry (multiple camps), Ironside (multiple camps), Eric Juergens (multiple camps), Jody Strittmatter (multiple camps), Chris Bono (ISU), Mike Land (ISU), Cael Sanderson (ISU), Jake Varner (ISU), Mike Moreno (ISU), and many others who I have drawn a blank to. Mark Perry actually helped me in getting camps with Delgado and Imar when he was at Illinois! Tried to get Ramos and Gilman for camps before but it didn't work out!

I had Spencer Lee set up for this summer for June 18th but he had to change due to scheduling conflict with his training etc. I don't think offering kids the opportunity to learn from some of the great wrestlers in our sport is a bad thing at all! The people I have brought in no matter what college they are from have been nothing but professional and great kids for our wrestlers in Iowa and surrounding states to learn from! I also like to continue to learn from these great wrestlers! Hopefully if you have a son of daughter you will show up to a camp and learn from them and talk with them they are great kids!

Wrestling for Life has been a supporter of High Altitude and its camps for a few years. One of our success stories is providing a scholarship to a "World Champ Camp" with Kyle Snyder to a second-year middle school wrestler who went on to qualify for Fargo.

Chad and HAWC are quality resources for the young wrestlers of Iowa.

We appreciate your help! I sent that picture of that young man to Kyle and he thought it was pretty cool! He remembered him from camp! Let me know when you need some support for some of the great things you do for our youth wrestlers

Kids are not nearly as partisan as us adults. If they like the way a guy wrestles and he's a huge name in the sport (like the guys listed) they want learn from them- no matter where they go to college. That said, I think a Spencer Lee camp would pack out any gym in the state right now.

They replaced hall in this camp, Valencia is taking his spot.

June 1st is the last day to pre-register and get a camp shirt for our June 12th "Olympic Champ" Wrestling Camp with Kyle Snyder! If you haven't been to a camp with Kyle you need to attend, he does a great job with the kids!
