Pretty wide range of possibilities for Iowa: NCState, OkState 2.0, Missouri, Lehigh, Oklahoma and VTech. Personally, I see Missouri and Vtech beating NCState and OkState bumping to 1st to take on PSU. That would then put Missouri in the Iowa slot. If NCState beats Missouri but loses to VTech, you could end up with Lehigh, Oklahoma or Vtech........
I personally don't like it so late in the season. Brooks got dinged up at Carver last year at National Duals and it cost him at Big Tens and Nationals.
It has just as much to do with the poor format. Having the top 4 teams battle it out for a true number one would make for less complaining. I hope we draw Missouri. It is unrealistic to shield the team from competition for a month or two leading up to the Big Ten tournament. It just doesn't work that way.
Anytime our guys have an opportunity to test themselves against high quality competition, it is a good thing. Bring it on. Why some are afraid of this, I will never understand.
I hope this doesn't lock us into OK State again. Would rather see NCST or Mizzou.

I want Missouri. I also want the NCAAs to allow Brian Smith to transfer over yet another wrestler from the east in Zeke Moisey just in time for the duel.
And, I want a camera on Ben Asskren in CHA the whole time so we can see his meltdown as his Tigers get whooped.
What weekend is this? Really hope it doesn't fall on the same weekend as MN state tournament.
Right because that would really hurt your fan turnout.
I agree. Initially I thought the duals were supposed to be winner take all, with each team wrestling till they lose (e.g., Iowa vs. PSU in the end, which I wanted to see). This format sucks!Wish we would just do like Illinois skip the dumb deal just a waste of time. ....sorry just way I look at it

I have never understood why people think competing for 7 minutes that week is more stressful on the body or makes one more susceptible to injury than the 10+ hours of practice that week guys are enduring in the tougher rooms in the nation. I don't get the logic behind that train of thought. It is unrealistic to shield the team from competition for a month or two leading up to the Big Ten tournament. It just doesn't work that way.

So, as I read it, the dual in Iowa City will be for 3rd place? There are no additional matchups after this event?
That is my understanding. It seems crazy that Iowa will finish unbeaten and participated in the stupid thing yet not be able to earn the "dual championship". They need to simply put number 1 against number 2 if they have not met previously to solve this. The best 2 teams won't always be in the BIG, but it will happen more often than not in the next several years. So, as I read it, the dual in Iowa City will be for 3rd place? There are no additional matchups after this event?
Think Bowl Games in Football. It's basically an exhibition (except the matches will count), featuring 8 teams from the best Wrestling Conference, i.e. The Big Ten, versus the rest of the country's 7 other wrestling Conferences and 1 at-large team from those Conferences, with the Big Ten teams hosting. So, as I read it, the dual in Iowa City will be for 3rd place? Thank you for the clarification. So we won't have to hear "we are the dual champions" from any people East of here? Why do I think this won't ring true, all the while understanding that you are correct. I don't know if we would/could beat PSU in a dual, but I don't like conceding anything without a chance to find out. That would be one hell of a dual. There are probably 6 matches that could go either way imo.Think Bowl Games in Football. There is no 1st, 2nd, 3rd. It is one day, one meet, for all 16 teams involved.
There is some criteria involved to get the best non-Big Ten teams to match up with the best Big Ten teams, etc.
So it will be something like this relative to Football (I believe):
Rose Bowl - Penn State versus ?
Orange Bowl - Iowa versus ?
Sugar Bowl - Michigan versus ?
Fiesta Bowl - Ohio State versus ?
Capital One Bowl - Nebraska versus ?
Outback Bowl - Rutgers versus ?
Pinstripe Bowl - Indiana versus ?
Motor City Bowl - Minnesota versus ?

Totally agree. It's actually more like the Big10 / ACC Challenge in basketball than a bowl system. I don't mind the Big10 vs the world part, but would like to see them break this process in cases where the top two teams have not wrestled and match them up. Maybe it won't come in to affect all that often, but with Big10 scheduling being as terrible as it is, this might come in to play on a regular basis. It's ridiculous to call it "National Championship Dual Series" since it won't crown a national champion.
Why not a double class just to make it interesting.
