We seem to have a reputation as a state without a ton of basketball Talent traditionally. Can we come up with a list of all the players ever who were born or went to high school in Iowa and made an NBA roster? I'll start with one of the first.

Murray Weir - Muscatine.

All American at Iowa. Played for Tri City Blackhawks (now Atlanta Hawks) 1948-1951

Ricky Davis. Ryan Bowen. Adam Haluska. Raef LaFrentz. Kirk Hinrich. Nick Collison. Doug McDermott. Harrison Barnes. Fred Hoiberg

A Couple Questions -
1.Which of these guys would help our team most now?
2.Which one that didn't go to Iowa would have impacted us the most?

Answer to number 2 is Harrison Barnes or Doug McDermott
Wrong

If Raef LaFrentz goes to Iowa then Dr Tom doesn’t get fired, Nick Collison likely ends up at Iowa, and we pass the torch to a hand picked coach with a full recruiting class when Dr. Tom retires. Which avoids the lame duck season, the “redacted” years, and the rebuilding years from Lickliter. We’re probably more in the class of Wisconsin or even Purdue than where we are now.

Nick Collison's daughter went to my kids elementary school. He always donated a meet and great with Thunder tickets as a package for the school auction. We won it and went to OKC. Super nice guy for helping the PTA fundraiser, taking photos, signing items for my kids, etc. All around stand up guy and Iowa nice. He was willing to spend a lot of time with us after the game.

On the drive back from OKC I turned to my wife and said, "It's been 18 years since Collison betrayed the state of Iowa. I guess I can forgive him now."

Kyle Korver, a native of Pella, IA, is still in the NBA and has one of the
highest 3 Pt FG% in history of your nba.

IOWA...……….the Hawkeye State

Kevin Kunnert played in tha 70s - 80s. 12th pick in the first round. Had a decent career but probably best known for being the person that Kermit Washington was trying to deck when he missed and hit Rudy Tomjanovich, almost killing him.
