I watched the same interview, and that is NOT what she said. They were NOT going 'try' to have CC break the record at home. The reporter basically forced Bluder to pick whether she would rather CC break the record at home or on the road, and of course she said at home.
She really wasn't "forced" to pick, but given that Bluder is pretty transparent with the press, she chose to answer the question. Disagree that they likely "thought" they had the game won, as they had no further to look to this season to see they had given up big leads late in 5 games, so there certainly wasn't a great track record to give them the feeling the game had been salted away. But, neither side of this debate can convince the other. I choose to believe given all of the evidence and history that they weren't trying to save the record for a home game, they just blew another game that they should have won. It hasn't cost them a chance to win the Big Ten. And it can be a lesson with a slow learning curve (finally) on closing out games.
