I’m getting a bad vibe about the success that the Big 10 will have in the tournament. I really do not see anyone (other than Michigan or Illinois)making a deep run. To me, they are clearly head and shoulders above the remainder of the conference. A lot of good teams, but nothing so special. After watching Baylor vs. West Virginia last night, I was very impressed. The only Big 10 I saw this year that had that effort and intensity was Michigan/Ohio State. If I was going to pick a favorite, I’d go with Baylor. They had a nice break due to COVID, and they are hungry. Kansas is also playing much better now. Obviously, you have to throw the Zags in there, but a weak schedule, will probably hurt them. As far as the Big 10, I think Illinois is scary. I think they showed last night that they are dialed in. I think Michigan is a year away from being really good. (Better than this year). And that’s not good for the rest of us. Purdue should be very good as well next year. I have total respect for Matt Painter, but his teams have really struggled in post season. Next year they could turn some heads. I guess with all the talk about the Big 10 being the strongest conference in the country....well, maybe they are....especially from top to bottom. But like I said, a lot of good teams, but not many (unless the stars line up right) that can make a deep run.

I still think the Hawks make at least the Elite 8. Honestly, I could see the B1G with half the E8 and half the FF. Iowa, IL, Mich and OSU are all E8 quality.

Which B1G teams I think make the FF will depend on the draws, basically do the get the other B1G teams? Do they get the Zags or Baylor? Does someone else sneak into a 1 seed (say Houston)?

I really think Ohio St is overrated. I know they played Michigan extremely well but their lack of size and so so defense is going to do them in. I am not sure they really have a go to player when they need a basket. EJ Liddell should be but he kind of disappeared in the second half against Iowa.

If Michigan is a year away that's not good news for them. They have a nice class coming in but will lose a bunch of guys....assuming they don't take advantage of that "free" year.

Not really seeing that. Ohio State has a very mediocre inside game, Iowa has been fun to watch, but Nunge being out is going to hurt them more than people think. Also, they have a smaller margin of ertor because of defensive liabilities (although it has been better lately). They have some horrific losses to Minnesota, and twice to Indiana. One signature win against OSU, Tell me how they can be rated so high? Wisconsin hasn’t lived up to expectations, Indiana is pitiful offensively. Purdue is playing well and, as poorly as Sparty was, they are playing much better. But I just can’t see either Purdue or MSU making a run. Actually, Penn State has played well the last couple of weeks. I see a lot of good teams, but they haven’t shown much consistency. So, Big 10 fans will say that is because the conference is so tough. I see it as a conference that is fairly evenly matched with average to good talent but also teams with glaring weaknesses....not a good scenario for the tournament. By the way, I hope I’m wrong. I’m a Big 10 fan as always pull for them . I’d love to eat my words if 3 or 4 make at least the Sweet 16.

Clones suck...go away. Maybe next year the clones can beat a power 6 team or a conference foe.

Now do the big 12 please! Can’t wait to hear your analysis.

You know what happened right before MSU started playing “much better”? Iowa beat them by 30 at their place.

Well, I’ll make it short. If Iowa was in the Big 12, they wouldn’t have their one token win. Couldnt be Baylor or West Virginia. Yeah, I’d like to see JBo bring the the ball up against those teams. Oh , I guess Fran could go to plan 2 like he did against Gonzaga. Either have Connor bring it upon here is a novel idea...let Joe T do it. Like he did against Gonzaga. He was the best player on the court the 2nd half of that game. But wait a minute. Coach just plays Joe T limited minutes following that game. And he doesn’t give Joe any minutes in the second half of several games. Why? Because we have a 2 guard running the point or coach’s kid playing who can’t blow by anybody because his defensive player sags 6 foot off of him. So, that would not work against Baylor or West Virginia( who has forgotten more about basketball than Fran the man has ever learned. There is no way the Hawks beat either of those two teams. Oh and then there is Kansas. They usually have a decent team. Texas.Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Okie St......the Hawks probably split with those teams. But Fran keeps his job because we sweep the Clones. Seriously, the Big 12 has very good teams at the top and very poor teams at the bottom. Not as balanced as the Big 10. If the Hawks were in the Big 12, they’d be ranked in the top 20, but not number 5. No way in hell are they the fifth best team in the nation.
Now, you want my take on the Patriot Conference?

So, then Iowa gets spanked by Michigan. What’s your point? Pretty much guarantee Fran and the players don’t want to play Sparty again.

Well that was a waste of your time.

I would love to play Sparty again and so would the Hawkeyes. The OP is a troll.

The only real comparison we have with Iowa vs the Big 12, is Iowa beating ISU by 28. That's right, Iowa beat ISU by more points than both Baylor and WVU beat ISU in 4 games combined.

I'm avoiding getting my hopes up because of past burnage.

So all this bracketologists collectively putting Iowa at a 2 seed stuff. The actual committee had Iowa as a 4, and that was before Iowa started losing some games.

So seeing a 7 loss team at #5 in the country, and some really good 3 or 4 loss teams below, concerns me that expectations are freaking out of control.

That said, the B1G is a freaking dog fight, as Mary Land was reminded of last night. I think losing to Indiana was a good wakeup call X2. And, this year Iowa has played the big dogs I.E. Gonzaga and a really good Illinois team.

So hopeful that this team knows what it needs to do.

And, they look way better than I could have imagined against teh OSU. I know key players for OSU had a bad shooting night But, the key for me was Joe T.

The ppl commenting him on needing more PT is on point. He needs to be in there with his crazy slappy D ****ing making the other team uncomfortable. The opposition being all wtf is this guy gonna do next, and causing hesitation on their side, is a really nice weapon to have.

I don't care about the seed at this point. Just need to get past this irritation COVID spreading cesspool called Nebraska. And the other key being to close out games like we did in '19. That team and Bohannon became really good at getting any kind of lead, and locking it up.

The committee revealed the Top 16 through the Feb 12 games. Iowa is 4-1 since that point.

I follow John Tietel, who's always hovering around the very top of the matrix list. Mostly because he is really good, and doesn't have any built-in opinion towards Iowa. He has Iowa as 2 seed. So all good.

So, you wanna compare Big 10 to Big 12? You really defected taking about the Hawks mauling the clones. I can do better. Didn’t we lose to Indiana twice? We, the Hoosiers got beat by Texas 66-44. Hmm...Texas is in the Big 12...sitting with a 9-6 record. You wannacompare? Do your homework.

I think the big dance is pretty wide open. As good as Gonzaga has been, they are far from unbeatable. I would take a team from a conference in a tournament setting before a team that has about 20 scrimmages.

Are you ok? You’re all over the place.
Not really. Thread regarding concern how the conference usually fares in the tournament. Last title in 2000. Metrics didn't win titles for the last 20 years. Despite this, expressed optimism despite the conference stats. Seems all in order. If you are looking for pissing match mirage, look elsewhere.

I love it when clone homer's like u blame all their losses on a tough conference. What is clones net rank again. Oh, that's right they're ranked 229 in the Net - worst power 5 team in country. Please keep Prohm

Speaking of homework....I think you've been pissing off your 7th grade homeschooling. Naughty boy!

Iowa > everyone

Deal with it.

Well, first of all I’m not a clone. I bleed black and gold. I’m 68 years old. I always get my hopes up every year. But, in the end, although Iowa has some good teams, the norm is mediocrity.Regardless of how strong the Big 10 is this year, what have the Hawks really done? They’ve won one signature game....Ohio State. And I think losing to Indiana twice more than negates the win over the Buckeyes. Three weeks ago, people on this forum were ready to run Fran out of town. Threads like “will this go down as one of the most disappointing seasons ever, the Fran Fade, etc. etc. well, give em credit....they’ve gutted it out. A lot of pOstend have made the comment that if this team doesn’t get to the Sweet 16, this wil go down as a disappointing season. Well, be prepared to be disappointed. The reality of it all is we don’t have a point guard. Well, we have one but he gets minimal minutes and sometimes never sees the court the 2nd half. Undeniably the best player on the court the second half against Gonzaga. But we play a guy at point that cannot break down a defense and blow by anyone. He gets his assists (pretty easy with Garza). And he’ll make a couple threes. Not exactly great numbers for the minutes he plays. But it gets worse. We have another starter that won’t/can’t shoot. Gets very few rebounds for the minutes he given. One of the reasons we spanked Ohio State was he got into foul trouble and Fran was forced to extend Murray’s minutes. And, oh didn’t Joe T have an incedible game running the point for our point guard who isn’t a point guard. (My bad. Already said that. Bottom line is: if Murray and Joe T get more minutes, which they have clearly earned, I like our chances way more. Also, the loss of Nunge, could really hurt us IFwe advance. Also, everyone thinking the Big 10 is so tough, needs to watch some games back in the 80’s. No comparison. And anyone who uses the Iowa-IsU game to compare the Big 10 vs Big 12, needs to retake Basketball 101. So, yes, keep calling me a clown, a troll, a legendary coach, etc. I can take it. I’m a big boy. I’m not going away.

You're an obvious troll and most likely part of the Cytwins minion gang. It must be hard to root for a team that's only won 14 games the past 2 seasons. I bet u get your rocks off at every clone tailgate event when Pollard talks about being the "bear" and on the verge of greatness. How's that "bear" been doing against Iowa the last 5 years in every major sport.

Sure you are.

P.S. A 68 year old would know what paragraphs are and how to use them.
