NCAA tournament

Not really seeing that. Ohio State has a very mediocre inside game, Iowa has been fun to watch, but Nunge being out is going to hurt them more than people think. Also, they have a smaller margin of ertor because of defensive liabilities (although it has been better lately). They have some horrific losses to Minnesota, and twice to Indiana. One signature win against OSU, Tell me how they can be rated so high? Wisconsin hasn’t lived up to expectations, Indiana is pitiful offensively. Purdue is playing well and, as poorly as Sparty was, they are playing much better. But I just can’t see either Purdue or MSU making a run. Actually, Penn State has played well the last couple of weeks. I see a lot of good teams, but they haven’t shown much consistency. So, Big 10 fans will say that is because the conference is so tough. I see it as a conference that is fairly evenly matched with average to good talent but also teams with glaring weaknesses....not a good scenario for the tournament. By the way, I hope I’m wrong. I’m a Big 10 fan as always pull for them . I’d love to eat my words if 3 or 4 make at least the Sweet 16.
Those 'average to good talent' teams whooped ass in the preseason against the other conferences.

OP, In regard to Matt Painters teams really struggling in post season, Please define struggling,
Purdue last 3 tourneys Elite 8, sweet 16, sweet 16.
That UVA loss has to sting still.....didn't they basically have the game won?

My comment about his teams struggling was an error on my part. I literally had forgotten how many years he has been at Purdue. Yes, recently, they’ve played well. His teams struggled early in his tenure.

As far as me being a d***....well, really don’t understand. In a nutshell, I have stated: I believe Illinois has the best opportunity to advance. (Gave reasons why). I felt Iowa has a smaller margin of error than a lot of teams. (Stated my reasons). Then said I felt the Big 10 was the best conference this year because of great balance top to bottom. (Stated more reasons). Then I basically felt the top 3 teams in the Big 12 are better than the Big 10’ s top three. So, for that, I get comments that I’m a clown, a troll, I suck at posting, I suck at posting. All those comments there were no reasons given. Makes me wonder if they actually read my posts. I totally understand that I don’t sugar coat anything, and that criticism directed towards the Hawkeyes and the the Big 10 often times receive some flack. But if a person reads my posts carefully, they will se positive comments as well. And I ALWAYS state my opinions and some facts as well. I don’t fire bullets and run. Hell, a month ago I stated I was a high school varsity coach in Illinois for 30 years. It was like I started Workd War 3. Kinda makes me wonder if being a “d*** has a new meaning.

Yes, Painter’s second season at Purdue was a struggle. 22-12 (9-7 t4th) and lost in the second rd of the NCAAs by seven to the eventual National Champions. Must have been his third year when they were 25-9 (15-3 2nd in B1G). They lost again in the second round of the tournament. Years four and five Purdue reached the sweet 16.

Sign me up for them struggles.

I'm going from memory, but didn't the Big 12 have zero Sweet 16 teams last time the NCAA Tourney was played? I'm confounded why they always get such great seedings come Tourney time.

I'll give you Baylor and put the rest of the Big 12 best about middle of the pack B1G. Remind me who's better than the top 3 in the Big Ten.

A lot has changed about this team since the beginning/middle of the season (CJ healthy, Nunge hurt and ditching the zone). All of these things change the outlook on this team. The only negative is Nunge so that will force Garza to play more minute. If we’re hitting threes, they can beat anyone, but if not could be out very early. I also agree on earlier posts about athletic guards which is where CJ and Joe are gonna have to step up.

Texas Tech was in the Terrific Two.

Pumping up the Big 12 over the Big 10....yep, you are a Clone fan.

I think the the state of Indiana missed out on a golden opportunity to showcase itself as a "basketball state" and by not lobbying the NCAA to at least have the play in games in a couple of high school gyms, since 14 or 15 of the largest gyms in the country are here, and 3 or 4 of those would be able to hold the attendance amount the NCAA has set for Lucas Oil (8,000 fans). One of my choices would be Case Arena in Frankfort, even though it only holds about 5 or 6,000. It's basically a miniature Mackey Arena and it's where the movie Blue Chips was filmed. It was a fun place to play in when my high school played our Sectional round of the state tournament there.

Well, first of all I’m not a clone. I bleed black and gold. I’m 68 years old. I always get my hopes up every year. But, in the end, although Iowa has some good teams, the norm is mediocrity.Regardless of how strong the Big 10 is this year, what have the Hawks really done? They’ve won one signature game....Ohio State. And I think losing to Indiana twice more than negates the win over the Buckeyes. Three weeks ago, people on this forum were ready to run Fran out of town. Threads like “will this go down as one of the most disappointing seasons ever, the Fran Fade, etc. etc. well, give em credit....they’ve gutted it out. A lot of pOstend have made the comment that if this team doesn’t get to the Sweet 16, this wil go down as a disappointing season. Well, be prepared to be disappointed. The reality of it all is we don’t have a point guard. Well, we have one but he gets minimal minutes and sometimes never sees the court the 2nd half. Undeniably the best player on the court the second half against Gonzaga. But we play a guy at point that cannot break down a defense and blow by anyone. He gets his assists (pretty easy with Garza). And he’ll make a couple threes. Not exactly great numbers for the minutes he plays. But it gets worse. We have another starter that won’t/can’t shoot. Gets very few rebounds for the minutes he given. One of the reasons we spanked Ohio State was he got into foul trouble and Fran was forced to extend Murray’s minutes. And, oh didn’t Joe T have an incedible game running the point for our point guard who isn’t a point guard. (My bad. Already said that. Bottom line is: if Murray and Joe T get more minutes, which they have clearly earned, I like our chances way more. Also, the loss of Nunge, could really hurt us IFwe advance. Also, everyone thinking the Big 10 is so tough, needs to watch some games back in the 80’s. No comparison. And anyone who uses the Iowa-IsU game to compare the Big 10 vs Big 12, needs to retake Basketball 101. So, yes, keep calling me a clown, a troll, a legendary coach, etc. I can take it. I’m a big boy. I’m not going away.

Yeah, this thread just oozes Black and Gold.
