*****NCAA Women's Final 4 games thread*****

If CC doesn't completely take over right now this game will be over soon. 15 pts will be a mountain to climb over.

I love we get called for blocking out….****
Unpopular opinion, but I agree with the call. The offensive player can jump strait up, Kate needed to actually attempt to jump, instead she just continued boxing out and displaced her. I mean, she did a great job boxing out, jump amd try and get the ****ing rebound.

Regardless, she has that sewn up but it's hard to beat a 37-0 bench differential. That's a team difference.
She's the GOAT no doubt, but had she went off like the 1st Q and Iowa would have won, not one person on earth could debate it.

I wouldn’t say Clark is the best women’s college basketball player ever. I’m not sure she’s even Top 10 all-time. She is the most prolific scorer and is an elite passer, but there is a long list of players who arguably were better overall.

But there is no question she has had the greatest impact on the game. The amount of interest and attention is not only unprecedented, but was previously unimagineable.

Every time she stepped on the court a new viewership record was shattered. For every network that broadcasts women’s basketball, their most-watched game in history featured Caitlin Clark.

If someone told you five years ago that 12,000 people would attend a practice session, you would have laughed at them.

It’s going to be interesting to see how well her star power translates to the WNBA and how well WCB continues the momentum in her absence.

She’s top three in points and assists. Seems pretty clear cut.

What exactly does it take to impress your lofty stats?

Basketball is where I really hate the liberal transfer rules we have now. It’s way too easy to create the superteams every year.
That is what will bring a terrific run under Coach Leonard Hamilton to a less than stellar end, it seems. I really hope that he pulls in some solid talent quickly and again joins the ACC top ranks.
His bread and butter was always bringing in prospects and those fussing with eligibility. After years under the tutelage of big Stan and CY, the older kids at FSU were coaches on the court. Think about Mr. Trent Forrest, who was always solid, but became the leader in his last years in Tally. His run in the NBA speaks volumes about his solid upbringings, willingness to be coached, and innate talent that may have been missed in bigger programs.
Another favorite is big Terrance Mann, the son of a woman’s coach who came in underrated, but is now a solid NBA guy.
There was then a run with folks like Malik Beasley, Scottie Barnes, Jonathan Issac, Patrick Williams, etc who boosted the program, but interrupted depth as there suddenly needed to be another plug in as they left.
I totally appreciate what Ham has pulled off in Tally. Good guy who graduated kids, was in the top of ACC wins for years, snags some appreciation for singing gospel…

how much longer can he coach? He'll be 76 next season

That’s why the championship requirement for GOAT was so dumb. All these other girls tried to switch schools to win championships.

CC could have transferred to South Carolina and she’d have two championships.

He looks and acts like a 60 year old. Predictably some of his long time assistants have moved on to more advanced positions. He may pull off another run and I for one would not be surprised if he does. Otherwise, we have to wonder about his replacement. Andy Enfield has left Southern Cal. Dave Cowens has aged out. Stan Jones likely won’t get the chance. CY?

One of my favorite coaches. Always did it the right way and did it well.

Yep. Of those kids who stayed four years, his graduation rate is stellar. Hamp is good stuff.
Dude grew up pretty poor as a preacher’s son in Gastonia, NC. Was a lesser version of David Thompson… could jump outta the gym. His big break was catching the eye of Joe B. Hall at Kentucky, who hired him as an assistant.
FSU brought him in as a reclamation specialist, and it seemed that he would be let go before catching a gear and taking a moribund program into ACC contender status.
I got to have lunch with him at a meat and two joint with my kid brother one day in Tally. He was generous with his time and appreciative of our interest in his program.
The number of folks stopping by our table was nonstop as this was obviously his routine.
His side gig is as a gospel music producer and he has a good set of pipes himself. I totally admire the guy and wish him all the best.

I commented to my wife right after half that this felt a lot like the UConn-Bama men’s game; Bama was playing about as well as possible, was keeping it close, but it just felt inevitable that the favorite was going to take over.

Bluder has been recruiting well, it will be interesting to see how the program does moving forward.
