These guys look drained and timid, nothing like during the season and yesterday Brands owns this.
Iowa wrestled with their butt holes puckered tight the whole tournament. Penn state just looks more loose all the time.
If you’re an elite wrestler, with offers to go to either Penn State or Iowa, what makes you choose Iowa at this point?

That's how it looked to me...fwiw. timid, not attacking, letting the match come down to one move...which could go either way too easily. Harrumph!

Just straight up out coached, they make the adjustments and have their guys ready for the opponents strengths. Seems like our guys have no game plan whatsoever, just straight winging it.

tough call but 4 individual champs is a better recruiting tool than a team championship now a days where the ME FIRST attitude is very popular

I'm pretty much tired of seeing that type of match. Makes the sport stale. No idea how to fix it, but the NCAA finals are mostly a snooze fest

All 3 of their finals wins were basically the same plan and all won with a late TD.
I have to chime in for the Hawks here. Kem was bonusing like crazy. The same for Desanto and Eireman and Lee. The national tourney is no joke. Without the bonus points Iowa would be fighting for second with OSU right now. Losing a few finals matches in OT sucks, but the Hawks wrestled very well this weekend. IMHO
Brands, Young, and Warner have never been big point scorers, so don’t put that on TnTs shoulders. They are doing the best they can with the skills they have.
100% this. Iowa wrestled a good tournament, they won the damn thing for gods sake of course they did great.
Tonight they look flat. Maybe they eased off the gas after they won the team title. There’s a lot of pressure off their back. Two years worth.
Fixing it is simple. Call Stalling! Refs refuse to call stalling until the last 20 seconds so it won't affect the match.

I’m not sure if you guys are aware, but it’s an individual sport at its core. PSU going 4 for 4, including 2 for 2 over us is a terrible look for elite recruits who want to win their own title. That’s true whether you want to admit that or not.
If you're too dense to understand that individual titles are more important for recruiting than team titles, there's no helping you. 3 matches so far. 3 underdogs. 3 titles. Results speak.

As a fan, I love the team title, but at a wrestler, getting to this level and coming up short? F*** that team title.
KemDog chased him all over the mat. Tough to get a decent shot on someone backing away. Penn State strategy was very good - back away and block off to prevent any scoring and shorten the match to win it at the end. That's how an underdog can pull off the upset against a better opponent. That's why you need to push the pace hard in the first period and build a lead. Kemdog let him get away with it by being too cautious the first period.
