Exactly. High school studs are seeing tonight how, in a down year, Cael pumped out 4 champs, while Iowas only champ this year, and the past couple years, will have been a kid who was regarded as one of the best high school wrestlers of all time.

Guess what? They already get all the best recruits, it's no contest. You can count on 1 hand the number of guys they wanted but did not get. They can't get any more of the best recruits they are already getting because only 10 guys can be in the lineup. They are already using OTC, grey shirts and red shirts to try and spread all the talent out they got so much.

The (understandable) angst and frustration in this topic is why I will always say I prefer individual titles to team titles. Don't get me wrong, I am so relieved and excited that we won as a team, but this finals session definitely feels like a victory for PSU overall

I’m not sure if you guys are aware, but it’s an individual sport at its core. PSU going 4 for 4, including 2 for 2 over us is a terrible look for elite recruits who want to win their own title. That’s true whether you want to admit that or not.

Our guys lost because of shooting not because of lack of aggressiveness. I guess you have to know when you are facing elite athletes you can't try things to put you at risk. The sport rewards the counter more than aggressiveness. Have to play it that way moving forward

yep I don’t know if penn state took a shot in the first period. Felt like everything was on a counter

I watched a lot of aggressive wrestlers in the tourney get beat by guys that did nothing except wrestle the edge and take advantage of the guy that was actually wrestling. PSU is the best at that tonight. IMO it will ruin the sport if something is not done.

I also wonder if Iowa wrestlers are going through an emotional letdown from this afternoon's high of winning the team title. The 3rd places matches were very intense and everybody was riding high on adrenaline. The emotional letdown might explain lost of energy going into 3rd period.

One can observe Kemerer the entire season and see that tonight he wrestled less than his abilities. He looked weak and lost to a lesser opponent. I expected more from him, a number one seed.
