Kentucky is roughing the Lady Vols up!
Didn't expect that. Kentucky has been coming on pretty good lately, and yeah, Georgia Amoore looking tough. Was just thinking the other night she might be better than HVL in this coming draft. Curious how they go.

And Duke took down UNC by double digits.

The three "blue" teams in my mind.

I just notice a girl on FSU that looks 12, they list her at 5-4 and she would look like a child standing next to my 12-year-old daughter.

I don’t think there’s any chance she’s five for but she’s good and she isn’t afraid to get to the rest… this is my first time watching Florida State. They appear to have gotten better and better all year long.

O'MARIAH Gordon
Just started watching this. ND in trouble.

Yeah, despite those that are big HVL fans, she won’t sniff the first round, probably late second. She may have a chance to make it, but she’s not particularly big. She’s not particularly quick and not a very good defender. Obviously, you can ask CC & the LSU fans….doh!! She has had a nice season, however. I’ve watched her play a few times. She does have decent handles and she can get to the rack.

Amoore though has slowly crawled herself into the late 1st round. Maybe the Sky🤷‍♂️

Keeping on the Kentucky topic… They are pretty good and they have a hell of a coach…
Although pretty inconsistent.

Tennessee, honestly, is all press to me and I would love to play them again now. They don’t do much for me…

Not necessarily the right thread, but if I remember correctly, Indiana now has 2 late second round draft picks… If Sydney continues to play at the level, she has been I could see the Fever take a flyer on her in the late second round.
I think Affolter's chances ride on how far Iowa can go, and how many chances she gets to do what she did last night again. A lot to play for in March.

Would be so cool to see another Iowa player make a WNBA roster, and really hope Syd and Lucy get a chance.

10 games ago my opinion was no chance on Lucy… But she is crafty and I think she’s probably a little better defender than I’ve given her credit for. She’s not a great athlete but she has a very quick first step and she’s gritty.

I’ve been debating whether to post this and what thread to drop it in all night, but I think you will find it interesting. I kind of quit following the draft after it was obvious the Fever weren’t going to have a top 10 pick but this girl literally just came on the radar. I don’t see any other draft even listing her, but she has a story. She was I think born in & spent her early life in the United States, but has been primarily in Lithuania for most of her life and made the women’s professional league at like 13 or 14. It looks to me like she might have the chance to be one hell of a player …

She had to petition for the draft because she’s not a domestic player, but she’s also not a classic international player, and there are different rules for those two classifications as you probably know. Apparently, she just got cleared.

Big Affolter fan but not sure in the W she’s got a position. She’s been unbelievable for us as a Power Forward at 5-11, 6 ft? Maybe if the league keeps growing and adding teams. So few positions open. Probably my favorite player to watch the last few years besides obviously CC.

⬆️ agreed, not sure what her position is, but after reading an article about her & seeing some pictures of her snagging the ball. She appears to be crazy strong w/crazy strong hands

I saw HVL play Amoore last year and HVL looked slow. She got beat multiple times by Amoore driving around her. HVL not quick enough for the W. Maybe a practice player like Grace Burger.

LSU trailed the entire game, got their first lead with under 2:00 to play. Alabama player passes to nobody with 35 seconds left and LSU ties it with 23 to play. OT. Unbelievable.

Gritty game by Bama, their 2 best players fouled out (one in regulation) and they still held on to win in OT. No unbeatable teams this year!

Alabama player given a technical for hitting Flau'jae with her elbow with 35 sec. left
LSU player misses the first free throw and fails to tie it up. Now crying on the bench.
Still, somehow, ends up with a chance to tie, but Moreow misses the 3pt. attempt. LSU loses. Losers.

Lover her or hate her, Kim Mulkey is one of the best women’s basketball coaches of all time and that’s not questionable
Yep ... I revile her ... but I gotta give her the tip of the cap, she's one helluva basketball coach.

Of course, I actually like Geno (unlike many here) ... and obviously he's also one helluva bb-coach too.

It will be fun to see how good of a coach Jan "really is." I do really like the staff she's assembled ... and I've been impressed with how the Hawks have fared in what should have been an obvious "transition" year.

What do you mean by your quotes of "really is."

I think jan has done an amazing job. Completely overhauled a team that lost a ton of talent and experience. Most of our scoring and ball handling, gone. Win a completely new way, defense. You have to go back to Stringer, to see this level of defense. Our struggle’s early in my opinion were ball handling and experience. I wasn’t sure we could compete with top 20 let alone top 10 teams this year, yet here we are.

I won’t touch the Geno thing, 🤓 but yes Jan has done an excellent job managing an inexperienced, growing team

And still, I'm quickly flashing to her player crying after missing one of the technical free throws. Some pressure?

Then there is how miserable Van Lith always looked playing at LSU.

There is a trade off for whatever Mulkey is doing to win.

I detest Geno, but I’d say UConn if healthy with Fudd back has as good a chance as anyone this year. Probably 10 teams that could win it, which I do think you could ever say.

I regrettably have to agree with you on all accounts😂 I don’t like UCONN & Geno is a douche canoe

Could you imagine Lisa or Jan making the "rude awakening" comment about a young talented player just entering the WNBA. Geno never got enough blow back for that rude comment. Kim Mulkey is twice the person that Geno is. I can't stand him.

Yeah, I personally like her better too, she is who she is and she doesn’t apologize. Geno is a condescending ass.

The whole WNBA is littered with UCONN products. Not a surprise given the dynasty that Geno created.

I think that the comment there was mainly in reaction to folks claiming that the young player just entering the WNBA would tear things up from Day 1. Said young player didn't tear things up right away. However, after the Olympic break ... said player then did MORE than tear it up.

Anyhow, I think that Geno's comments had less to do with the player ... and more to do with a reaction to fans.

Given how many Iowa fans have spoken about Angel ... I think that many deserve to be rebuked. Given how fans have denigrated her via sexualization ... or some folks being plain racist ... you cannot let that shit slide. So yeah ... when fans are being mindless ... the anonymity of the internet is not a sufficient excuse ... I can understand when somebody like Geno takes his shots back at them.

You’ve long been one of my favorite posters, and you know that, and what you are saying has significant merit. With that said in my mind, you are giving Geno way more credit than I’m willing to. In my opinion, he was defending his turf, his legacy & his WNBA creating machine. And in reality “said player” did not tear it up in Caitlin Clark fashion, but she most assuredly was well above the norm as in, some of the best rookie numbers ever in her first month and your assertion is still correct, she wasn’t even playing very good..

That should’ve been acknowledged after the fact.

Per your comment, I have a little different slant on some things. I hate hypocrisy. And I’m honest enough with myself to admit I am a hypocrite, as are we all. But this AR thing has jumped the shark… There was a significant faction on Twitter, LSU fans, South Carolina fans, UCONN fans, hell, Iowa State, and Nebraska fans for that matter… and then just fans Angel, Reese fans, etc., etc. etc..

That were desperate for CC to fail. I mean flat desperate…. And now we’re gonna worry about poor Angel with all the dumb shit that has gone on on the other end ?! Special whistles, Im important too….WTH. I mean, come on man does anybody not have any accountability anymore?.

Yes, some of these Clark fans are absolute nut jobs but where do you draw the line. We wouldn’t have near vitriol if we didn’t have someone trying to prop up a 30% shooter who also happens to be a hell of a rebounder as one of the best players ever. I mean that’s a thick onion, brother.

There is no one righteous in this scenario and I certainly don’t find the Clark fans any worse, nor any better, than the AR fans.

But you said it best, Geno was just getting his “shots in“ in my humble opinion.

The only one in this mess keeping her mouth shut is Caitlin Clark.

And the shitty things said about Angel are just that… But we’re not in a vacuum here, man. I don’t know about you, but I promise you one of my kids wouldn’t have followed around behind someone for two minutes on the court in front of God and country waving her finger at somebody.

Everyone has to be held accountable. Even the righteous..

And I’ve never had a sense you’re a big believer in God. But you don’t get to just jack someone in the throat and then go… “What, what, what….?”

There’s my $.17 for the day. And yes, I wished those outlier Clark fans would go away because they make the rest of us look bad, but I certainly don’t find them anymore reprehensible than anyone else.

I think all of what you said is very fair and he might have said all that partly for those reasons you stated. However, with his experience, age, and stature he knew much better ways to address the vitriolic fans compared to the method/message he chose. He easily could have done it much more directly and constructively without invoking 22's upcoming performance in her rookie season.

Also, the worst part wasn't what he said but how he said it. "I feel sorry for that girl" with that super patronizing & elitist tone. He didn't choose a different way because at the end of the day he's a big baby who's still pouting because: 1) he didn't even try to recruit the best player ever because of his own arrogance & flawed thinking 2) he no longer controls/influences women's basketball like he used to 3) #1 & #2 just so happened to be on full display as the sport experienced huge jumps in popularity - so #1/#2 were on parade for the world to see. The bill comes at the end.

edit: I just think if he exhibited some of the grace and humility of Lisa/JJ I'd be more sad the day he retires.

UCLA just doesn’t utilize Betts enough on the offensive end. And USC spreads the court so Betts can’t just clog the middle.
Betts is flustered and I think a huge part of it is the officials are allowing USC to be very physical in the lane guarding her.

Of course, it would help if she had any shot like a 10' or turnaround.

JuJu us very impressive tonite.
