My old classmate at the U of I gets the role of Honorary Captain on Friday. He’s turned CR Jefferson around from winless in consecutive seasons to not having a losing season the last two years and developing a couple D1 recruits. Before that he did really good work with Linn Mar. Genuinely great guy, and should give a helluva pep talk to these Hawks.

Alright, I just got done perusing the Nebby board. Won't be doing that again. Felt like a few million, or billion, brain cells have instantly evaporated.
Have they always been like this? I knew they were delusional, I mean that's a given, but I had no idea that so many couldn't even spell. I've met many and they didn't seem ignorant in person, hell, they were good people from what I recall but man, after reading their board, I'm firmly perplexed as to how they manage to even breathe on their own.
I don't know how SWIowa has stayed over there for so long. It's like a teacher talking with middle school students and trying to keep them on track repeatedly.

He’s done a nice job taking pressure off Ravioli to be effective. Now, we need to put the pressure back on. D needs to be smart and strong.
Totally agree. It’s going to be cold but wind will not be a factor. Somehow we have to be able to run the ball effectively. Will be more challenging than Maryland game and we need to put big time pressure on youn about who has looked composed and has played well for a freshman. Go Hawks!
Going to be a competitive game. I like the state of Nebraska except when we play them. The cold weather is the wild card. As far as their fan board I've never been there but we've got some real looney's here to.
Show some respect. It's Thanksgiving and some Big 10 West teams won't have Nebraska as a guaranteed win on their schedules anymore. Over the last 10 years teams like Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota fans have had a lot to be thankful for when it comes to Lil Red, the gift that keeps on giving.

Some of you guys are being too dismissive. They pushed OSU to the limit, and that was before they replaced the OC. Can you imagine Kirk replacing a poor OC with three games to go in the season to try to improve? I have a better chance at winning the lottery. They also have a pretty good DL and they will sell out to stop the run in this game. Hawks need to attack Ravioli, and be able to make some plays with the passing game to win.
This is really different. The line has dropped three points to Hawks now favored by 3 when earlier it was 6. That is a lot of $$ being put on Nebby recently. Vegas must be reading the Nebby board. I made one trip over their yesterday and that was enough. Come on running game and D., beat Nebby. Go Hawks!
This game is going to come down to our offensive line. Our running game against Nebbie's rush defense is strength on strength. Wind or not, it's tough to pass and catch the ball in these temps. It's going to be a battle of wills...the team that is mentally tougher will win.
The team that wins the field position battle has the fewest turn overs and penalties will prevail.

I mean I certainly expect a 17-13 type of game. And I honestly have a lot of respect for Raioli. For a Frosh he’s pretty damn good. But I don’t expect him to go toss the ball all over the field in 15 degree weather. And if he does more power to him. Phil isn’t going to blitz much like some of you guys want, especially without Harris. If he can be patient and make the 8-10 yard passes without a mistake we could certainly lose. I just want to see us do better on 3rd and 6-8. Those are the plays we don’t seem to make in the games we lose.
I'm assuming you mean on our offense converting. You were talking about our defense, so thats why I was wondering. In the Maryland game they said we were second in the nation in lowest % of third down conversions allowed when the other team had third and 7 or longer to go for the first down. Teams are 4 for 49 on third down and 7 or more. Thats 9% chance to convert. Thats an incredible % if you can get the opponent into a third and long.
Gonna be tough. I think Holgorsen is a good offensive mind with decent, not great, disposal at his hand there.

Actually defense. I show us as 38th in the country with opponents converting 35% of 3rd downs. We were at 31% last year. But the real difference has been home and away. Opponents converting 47% when we’re on the road and only 23% at home. Michigan St game it seemed like we could never get off the field on 3rd down.
My reference was when the opponent had 7 yards or more for the first down they were 4 for 45 or 9%. Thats what they talked about in the Maryland game. Basically in third and long against our defense you weren't going to get the first down.
I think if Iowa is the more physical team and the crowd is loud, they win and, maybe, easily. Keep in mind Raiola was born in hawaii and played high school football in texas and arizona- this will likely be the coldest game he's ever played in.
Like any other game if Iowa's front 4 on defense get pressure they win. If they don't, they lose. Nebraska knows exactly what Iowa is going to do on both sides of the ball.
