Nebraska @ Iowa Baseball: Three Game Series

Nebraska comes to Iowa this weekend for a three game series. It looks like 4pm Friday, 2pm Saturday, and 1pm Sunday. It’d be nice to get 2/3 (of course we want a sweep) to get this thing turned around. Weather looks good too, so it’s a shame no fans.

My guess is for these three game sets Iowa will go with Wallace, Irvine, and Davitt.

Also, this does say Peyton Williams has an injury and was only available to pinch hit. He is considered day to day.

Iowa starting pitching posted a .79 era in 34 innings in Minneapolis. While unrealistic, you get that production all year and you should win more than you lose.

It really sucks that Dreyer has had such bad luck with injuries. Add him to this year’s staff and we’d be in really good shape. Hopefully he’s able to make a full recovery and continue his career

Hope so too. The lost year last year is what hurts. Iowa was starting to click. Dreyer and Judkins were solid, and the offense was dangerous.

Iowa taking it on the chin today so far. Irvine lived on the edge the first two innings, and got ran by the 3rd. Iowa does have a couple solo HR today.

Iowa drops the weekend series 2-1 and the season series 3-2. Interesting fact, first time Nebraska has taken a series from Rick Heller while he’s been at Iowa.

After Friday Iowa didn’t play very well. You can’t issue four pitch walks, multiple walks in a row to start games. You can’t walk the bases loaded and walk in runs. You can’t give up extra bae hits after you’ve done this. I could go on. If you told me Iowa would score 8 runs in each game on Saturday or Sunday, I’d think it was a high likelihood they win the series.

I will say like @funnyfletcher said a few weeks ago, this team does things that are very Dahm like. Obviously that’s concerning, but I have confidence Heller can get it turned around. If there were ever a year for a rebuild this is it with the conference only, no conference tournament schedule.

Dammit! Missed the last couple games I’ll have to go back and rewatch them. Really missing Dreyer this year it looks like. He and Wallace would have been a solid 1-2 punch
