Nebraska's interior D-Line

I doubt Iowa will be able to consistently run on Nebraska. Best hope is they can house a few blown assignments. Otherwise they will have to do their work through the air. Which considering Nebraska's secondary, could work for them.

Anybody else concerned about their interior DL? They are healthy now too and rotating guys in. This could be the Akrum Wadley game in the fact Iowa might need to attack the edge initially.
Collins and Valentine are an excellent duo. They definitely WILL make sledding hard. On the flip side, the strength of Iowa's OL is also on the interior ... so we'll be facing a case of strength vs strength. Unless one group comes out with a lot more gusto than the other ... and that occasionally happens ... the match-ups should mostly neutralize each other. The Huskers DTs will make a lot of good plays ... but the Iowa interior OL will get in their fair share of punches too.

There interior line weighs 300 lbs. and 315 lb.

Running on them inside will be tough for sure.

Beat the interior line and the balance of the defense will melt. I like our offensive line when challenged.

Pretty clear that this game comes down to Armstrong If he only turns it over 2 times , he will kill the Hawks....The Dline is healthy as are the LB's so yeah Iowa will have to throw 25 or 30 times...That means Huskers will get their share of Turnovers...It all about Armstrong

Hope Armstrong plays! Next up....Nebraska!!

Iowa should just cancel the game. It's obvious Nebraska is too good and there's no chance the Hawks can win.

Nebraska secondary is horrible

I am a little worried you started your idiotic threads so early in a game week! Maybe you did so because the game is on Friday.

Iowa has the best interior offensive line in the country. No one should be worried about Nebraska's DLine just because they have a couple fat boys.

Iowa will do what it wants against Nebraska's defense.

They only question is how many times will a turnover prone Nebraska offense give Iowa the ball?

How do they compare to the NW, Wiscy, and Pitt d-lines? Iowa moved the ball on those teams when they needed to, and it's hard to image Nebby would be as good as any of them, let alone better.

Iowa ran on the same front the last two years with a walk-on fullback.

Val and Collins might make NFL rosters, but so will Blythe, Walsh and Welsh.

I like our line and our backs against those two.

It is a whole different scheme, last year we were 76th in the nation against the run, right now we are 9th.

Tommy Armpunt is the key to this. His erratic play will provide several freebies but his athleticism will extend a few plays they otherwise wouldnt.

It will be windy a chilly. Iowa's ability to run and/or to throw well will win out. As it has all year. Nebby can be made one dimensional, which is bad for any team.

Armstrong is a coordinators nightmare. The opponents defensive and Nebraska's offensive. When he is on he is way good.
Northwestern schemed to keep him from rolling right. He actually burnt them rolling left but we didn't stick with it. If you can't get pressure it can be a long day for you. If the wind is blowing much it will be a long day for us.

Well, if the stats say so then we may as well not show up.

Obviously, you aren't paying attention to the win/loss stats.

It was windy against Purdue...just saying

It's just a fact dude, Nebraska's defensive scheme is totally different. Bo's defense tried to shut down the pass, Bankers tries to shut down the run. Nebraska has a good run defense, they just also have a terrible pass defense. Last year it was opposite.

Well then, you have nothing to worry about.

I just mortgaged the double wide and put it all on the corn huskers. I am just thankful their fans came on this here message board and gave me the tips and the courage to do it. Cold Schlitz is on me Saturday night!

Well crap, maybe we should just leave the running backs home. Not. I have a feeling the hawks will run better than many think. Beathard and company will roll the huskers. If the defense shows up it shouldn't be close.

Iowa will put up 35 whether they have to do it by land or air. Armstrong will throw two picks. His best play is throwing it down the field into coverage and hoping for a PI call, fortunately King is back there waiting for the Hawks.

True - but it's not like the Huskers have played really ANY elite running teams either. Mind you, I'm not about to claim that Iowa is an "elite" running team ... but Iowa has the balance on O to make it hard to defend BOTH run and pass.

The highest ranked "rushing" team was Northwestern and they still rushed for 156 yards. Admittedly, a significant hunk of that was due to the QB running the ball. But Iowa's QB is capable of getting yards with his feet too.

It should be interesting ... because it's the first time each team has had to prep for each other with their respective coaching staffs.

I'm sorry, I know this was a few weeks ago, but I'm not going to take any trash talk from a team that allowed Purdue to score 55 points. Don't care that it was on the road. We didn't play our best and still won by 20 over them. Ever team or pundit that says that their defense will stop our run game.......has failed. Wisconsin is our best conquest to date, as that defense has stayed on point all season and is one of the best in the country, and we ran on them, no problem. I'm not saying we will blow them out, but I am confident we will win.

There a few LB's in the B1G slower than Banderas and Newby.

Iowa's TE's will go off.

Maliek Collins (#7) and Vincent Valentine (#98) are both big boys, but they haven't really racked up huge D numbers. Valentine has been dinged up all season (ankle), but in the last two games played (11/7, 11/14) he had a grand total of 2 tackles - 1 solo (a sack), 1 assisted. VV has 7 tackles ALL YEAR. Collins was supposed to be the next Suh but his stats aren't much better. Since 10/10 he's had 12 tackles, 7 solo, 5 assisted, 1 sack.

Compare this to Bazata and JJ: Since 10/10 (vs. IL), Bazata has had 18 tackles, 5 solo, 13 assisted, 1.5 sacks. Jaleel's stats since 10/10: 20 tackles, 9 solo, 11 asst., 2.5 sacks.

So #7 and #98 might be space eaters but they aren't playmakers - a lot less productive than our interior linemen.
