Nebraska's interior D-Line

I am talking about Nebraska's defense not Wisconsin's defense. Wisconsin defense is MUCH better at every level except tackles. Beat Nebraska's tackles and the rest will melt. Follow?

A couple of bootlegs...a heavy dose of passes to the tight ends...and CJ running as needed (please slide foot first)...plus, a variety of backs, with plays to suit them...avoid mistakes...make Armstrong think he needs to throw deep to win...pick the fruit...move on...

Minnesota and Purdue put 9 people in the box most of the game and we ran right through them. Nebraska doesn't scare me at all!!

Take it easy, Tiger. You said, "I like our offensive line when challenged." Wisconsin certainly challenged them is all I was alluding to, and I tried to do it in a humorous, non-offensive way. No need to get defensive.

True - but it's not like the Huskers have played really ANY elite running teams either. Mind you, I'm not about to claim that Iowa is an "elite" running team ... but Iowa has the balance on O to make it hard to defend BOTH run and pass.

The highest ranked "rushing" team was Northwestern and they still rushed for 156 yards. Admittedly, a significant hunk of that was due to the QB running the ball. But Iowa's QB is capable of getting yards with his feet too.

It should be interesting ... because it's the first time each team has had to prep for each other with their respective coaching staffs.

That's true but outside of Wisconsin the last few years Nebraska hasn't really faced true elite running games and they still gave up a billion yards on the ground. Nebraska's scheme is different, they sell out to stop the run.

Iowa can still get some big running plays. But I seriously doubt they will get consistent 4-5 yard runs.

This is the game where Daniels should get less then 10 carries and Canzeri and Wadley get the majority. We won't have as much success between the OT's but could really shred them on the outside. If we are going to open up Nebraska's secondary we will need to show we can throw downfield. I hope KF and GD have some plans to use Jerminic Smith this is a game he could thrive in.

Maliek Collins (#7) and Vincent Valentine (#98) are both big boys, but they haven't really racked up huge D numbers. Valentine has been dinged up all season (ankle), but in the last two games played (11/7, 11/14) he had a grand total of 2 tackles - 1 solo (a sack), 1 assisted. VV has 7 tackles ALL YEAR. Collins was supposed to be the next Suh but his stats aren't much better. Since 10/10 he's had 12 tackles, 7 solo, 5 assisted, 1 sack.

Compare this to Bazata and JJ: Since 10/10 (vs. IL), Bazata has had 18 tackles, 5 solo, 13 assisted, 1.5 sacks. Jaleel's stats since 10/10: 20 tackles, 9 solo, 11 asst., 2.5 sacks.

So #7 and #98 might be space eaters but they aren't playmakers - a lot less productive than our interior linemen.

Meh, DT stats don't mean much. Sub is a freak, Collins was never gonna put up those numbers. His play doesn't show up on the stat sheet. Valentine has been hurt most of the year. Even behind him Nebraska pretty good DT depth with Mauric & Williams.

That said, Nebraska's DE has been terrible at rushing the passer. Nebraska is lucky that they have such good DTs with the DE that they have playing. Otherwise it wouldn't be pretty.

It'd be nice to see Smith & Smith on the field at the same time
