I'm not well advised on what's going on in this world. Have had Mediacom cable/Internet for the last 10 years or so. Recently had an outage/"upgrade" in my area and the new box I got today only has local channels. Mediacom says I never should have had ESPN, Comedy Central, Food, etc. with my current package. Anyway, they suck and I want out. Gonna switch to Imon for Internet. I have a buddy who says he has PubTV for$20/month and gets every channel imaginable. Looked it up and seems shady. Help me out. I would like to watch sports (Hawkeyes), no pic wife likes CNN and Lifetime/Hallmark. I'm cheap - what's the best route to go? Explain like I'm a 4th grader please and thanks.

50-100 Mbs internet is enough and Youtube TV I just restarted YTTV for Football. $76 a month.

I have CenturyLink fiber to the home which cost $60 for 1 gig per second. You can stream at about 40 MPS.

We have YouTubeTV that I share with my kids. Everyone gets their own account. You are allowed 3 simultaneous streams. By the time it’s all said and done, that’s $80 but it’s saving my kids from paying a similar amount.

YouTube TV has tons of channels, especially sports. It also has the local channels for news would never think of going back to cable, especially for the cost. You can record every channel imaginable simultaneously. I set it up to record my favorite sports teams and it tracks down the station in time and does everything for me.

If you are cheap just use https://thetvapp.to/tv

Its free I think it works most of the time. If my wife watched cable news, I would get a new one.

My parents have t-mobile phone + internet as a package for only 100 a month. Use that in combination with YouTube tv, has worked really well.

This is the correct answer but, since OP is "not well advised on what's going on in this world" do they know how to watch YTTV on their actual TV?

OP, you will need a smart TV that has the YTTV app or go to Target and grab a Roku or other streaming device. If you have multiple TVs you'll want to grab a few. They run about $40 each. You can download YTTV and other streaming services to the streaming device

I'd get internet that's 50-100 mbps if it's just the two of you, and youtube tv. If you have a smart TV it's either already on there or can be downloaded from the app store. If you don't have a smart TV invest in a roku or apple TV or Chromecast device that turns any older TV into a smart TV.

Also purchase a modem router rather than renting one every month from your ISP. That will save you 10-15 bucks a month. Don't get conned into unlimited data options, most plans give you a gig of data each month which allows you to stream in HD for something like 19 hours a day.
