New AP Poll: Almost 2/3 of Dems and 80+% of Young Voters Don't Want Biden to Run in 2024

While I totally agree, who do you have in mind? I am having a hard time coming up with someone
I think the reason we can't really think of anyone is the way the process currently works.

There are probably thousands of better qualified options, but they don't want to put their families through the constant scrutiny, bashing, deprecation, threats, and overall hate that comes with running. Public service isn't worth it to them.

So we're left with a certain type of person who values the power over the peace of their family and anything else. We don't get the "best" candidates; we get the rest.

Then, from that pool, the financiers putting up the millions of dollars back the "known commodities" rather than taking chances, and you get more retreads than NFL coaching hits hires - even if they're 100 years old.

At least that's how I see it.

Yeah, the whole “super delegate” concept never seemed very democratic to me. They have modified and reduced some of their power from what I understand but they still exist.
Well then busting, I would become a Republican! All your Democratic friends will miss you terribly at next months caucuses. But we will all be reliving your contributions to The Party...maybe a moment of silence?

A big example for me was with the Clintons, and all the shit that was piled on Chelsea as a teenager. To me, you've got to really not care about your kid to allow her to go through all that. No matter how qualified I am, there's zero chance I put my family through that.

The caucuses are next month? Who knew?

But hey, two kids that really have gone thru the slings and arrows of fame and emerged well are Caroline Kennedy and Chelsea Clinton. Both have matured well, done good things and moved on in their lives. Kudos...The Bush girls have done well, too...

You attending?...being the good Democrat you are...precinct meetings to do 2023 business....
I’d rather go to a near-sighted Proctologist with depth perception issues and fat fingers than a Democratic precinct meeting. Sounds boring.

I pretty much see it the same way. Until we have some significant campaign reform, we are stuck with what we have. Since the ones in office do not want to change the system, I don't see any changes being made. As for the crap that goes along with running and serving, I don't have any answers. The bashing, threats, etc. just keeps getting worse and worse.

The bashing and threats have always been there lol. If anything we are a lot better compared to where we were with politicians and the threats. It just seems this way because of the opinionated news and social media.

No, it doesn't work. Biden is doing a very good job.
To be honest, I'm not certain "Biden" is doing a good job. I get the distinct feeling he's a figurehead. His Cabinet however is doing a very good job of leading the country. I think we give the President too much credit at times. Their most important process is selecting a qualified cabinet, and he's got a very good one unlike the Cheeto before who just rewarded all his rich friends with positions.
