New Car Recommendations Please

My son looking to purchase a car in the low to upper $20Ks range.

Any good recommendations out there? He likes the Hyundai Sonata as one option--looking for others.

Thanks.
Don't buy the Hyundai until you drive the Ford Taurus. I know it sounds lame, and it was the last one in that size class that I drove, but they're nice. If he can get a good deal, get the limited instead of the SEL. Lots of great features you find in luxury cars...in a Ford. I was always a GM person, not anymore.

Frydaze - have you son test drive a Subaru Outback and thank me later!

Seriously - all wheel drive, great gas mileage, very luxurious interior - without paying through the nose, just an incredible value...

Enjoy!

LOL - I didn't say 'Hugo"....

I actually live next to a higher end town and you would be surprised how many Subaru's are parked in the driveways - of course next to their Mercedes, BMWs, and Audis.;)

Nissan Altima.

i have a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid. It was 27,900$ and I have put almost 40,000 miles on it- and have gotten 43.2 mpg. It handles well and has very decent engine. Been very happy with it. The only thing is that Ford sort of rakes you over the coals on the maintenance/service plan. At least they did with me.

Anyone here have experience with the Mazda CX-9 or Chevy Traverse? Looking at those or the Hyundai Santa Fe.

Don't buy new.

I used to be in that camp - but honestly if you look at the price of used cars lately, you can't find too much (decently priced) without a crap load of miles on it. If you plan on keeping 7-10 years, I would go new otherwise maybe go with a 2 or 3 year old car that had been leased...

Just re-upped on another GMC Terrain with all the bells and whistles. Love it.

Hawkifann,

Depends on if you need to use the 3rd row at all-

Mazda is the best driving of the 3- but also the smallest. That 3rd row is tiny and little storage behind it.

Santa Fe- You can get with or without the 3rd row. 3rd row is functional. Solid car, good value and great warranty.

Traverse- Biggest of the 3. If you will frequently be using the 3rd row and need space behind the 3rd row, then this is your choice.
