What is a reasonable price per sq foot for a custom ranch home in Iowa? Thanks

Mine cost me $120 a sqft for total living space as the calculation. I did some of the work myself, so that definitely saved me. And I knew the builder well and helped him for 2 weeks.
I know I got a steal so don’t use that as your estimate. I’m fairly certain things are more like 180-190sqft

There are ranches in Iowa?
the best ranches

I’ve seen anywhere from $200 to $300 per sq foot but want to check with the stable minds in here just to reinforce any quote.

We started building in 2021, had the house enclosed to work through the winter and into 2022, and moved in close to the middle of June 2022. Counting only living space, not garage, 46' x 64' and we are in for $425,000, or $144 a square foot. If you were to add in our garage, which has another kitchen, our utility room, storage room, and 3/4 bath, we'd be under $100 a sq ft.

All in floor heat, which has been awesome

**Edit to add, this would be a custom ranch house, our floor plan, designed by us.

Depends on where in Iowa and if your house has wheels. Other factors in price are land, quality of build, and quality of interior.

We broke ground on our house in November 2021 and moved in the end of May 2022. We came out around $140/sq foot. We got lucky with our lumber as we purchased it in the dip. Everything else was still relatively high.

Around $160 a sq ft for our custom ranch including finished basement but that was before Covid and all the supply chain issues and price increases.
