New Iowa uniforms

Iowa needs new uniforms. Current ones are boring in my opinion. A modern looking cool set of uniforms is one of the easiest ways to appeal to recruits and generate a good image for your program. I think KF should switch it up and go with something like this (except w/ tigerhawk helmet decals and gold feathers on shoulders obviously). Thoughts?

Those are butt ass ugly. I don't think you get it.

Think the 4 and 5 star recruits headed to Oregon every year think the unis are ugly? They're famous for their unis, and it's a big part of the image of their program. It's flashy and makes them stand out. Iowa's are boring and bland. Iowa needs to do more to stand out as a program. The new facilities are a first step, hot new unis would be an easy second step

Those are beyond hideous. And Iowa absolutely does not need new uniforms. Nor a new Tigerhawk. Leave greatness alone.

Haha ya'll are probably a bunch of 40-60 year old dudes. You guys like the classic conservative look, I get it. Just like Kirk likes his old school classical football. But I guarantee younger recruits would be hyped by these unis. It's partly a generational thing I suppose.

Look at all the other traditional powers. They may do alternate uniforms every once in a while but the brand mainly stays the same.

Iowa could do more games like Minnesota last year but doing it excessively ruins the novelty of it. And Iowa has in fact talked about alt. unis for future games. It's just not an immediate concern of theirs, and I'm just fine with that.

I heard the Yankees were going to trade in their pinstripes for combat unis to attract more youth fans. Truth?

No. Iowa has a solid uniform that is instantly known. Don't F with it. I'm for an alt uni game though with a matte black helmet.
Let's come up with a dope ass alt uni for an away and a home game every year. Possibly another if we make a big time bowl or for the big ten championship game.

Otherwise leave the standard uni's. They are one of our Trademarks!

Perhaps some kids are persuaded by gimmicks like that, but I think most kids who have gone to Oregon over the years were attracted to Oregon's innovative style of offense. Oh, and then there is Alabama--about as plain as plain gets. And I couldn't even tell you if they have had a uniform change in the history of their program.

I've still got a few years till 40, but I like Iowa's uniforms just fine. Plus, Iowa tried something like that in the mid-90s with the yellow stripes on their shoulder pads and it was just an eye sore. Those uniforms lasted exactly one year if I recall correctly.

No they wouldn't. They'd think there was some cheese dick who got overactive with photoshop after a few Busch Lights and thinks wingy uni's straight out of 2010 are the newest biggest thing. Like I said, you don't get it.

Hawks have the best uniforms in the B1G. Possibly even the NCAA. Sharp, sleek, and sexy.

The only thing we need is alternate uniforms for special games.

I think it's you that don't get it. Recruits get excited about trend setting schools, schools that stand out. I'm not sure if you ever played a college sport, but it's true. Oregon ruotinely ranks near the top of college football in unis, and recruits take notice.

ESPN article on uniforms and influence in recruiting, with regards to Oregon and others: "Eventually, the school in the middle of nowhere became the trendiest program in college football."

""Swagged out" uniforms not only help prospects take notice of a program, they can be a difference-maker if the recruit is struggling to choose between two relatively even programs."

Iowa's current unis are ok, but in no way do they stand out from the pack in the college football landscape. But hey, complacent mediocrity is a "trend" Iowa can really own I guess.

Yeah, I never said recruits don't care about uni's. I said the ones you posted are butt ass ugly. Which they are. You're like 6 years late to the feather party.

I'm sure it's the uniforms. Not the oodles of Nike money that paid for a state of the art training facility/home/ hang out point for the players that swayed them. Yeah it was the uniforms.

It's a combination of factors, uniforms included. Read the article, the coaches are literally quoted saying trendy uniforms make a big difference on the recruiting trail.

Guess you didn't read the article. It says unis might not matter as much as everyone thinks.

That was one line towards the start of the article, and then the entire rest of the article went on to talk about how they do matter... Nice selective reading there

Give it up Big Dan - the unis you pictured are ugly...Iowa's current unis are one of the coolest/classic in college football. End of story, now go away.
