I live in NJ and the majority of reports and sightings are people here who have never looked up before and realize we have heavy air traffic. But there are drones, I saw one Thursday night, flew over me in my apartment complex, it was low to the ground and BIG. Quiet too, in fact I would say it glided more than flew.

No real general consensus on what it is, everyone is in the dark.
But we keep hearing it could be a dirty bomb that got through one of our ports.
No one believes it's a foreign adversary, and if it's ours they're definitely looking for something.
And the dirty bomb speculation I've heard several times from people who say they're in the know, and honestly it makes sense, if this was an exercise with drones why over the most populated area in the country and not sharing what they're doing with state officials?
And if it is a search for a WMD, I think keeping it discreet is the right play, people here clean out stores of milk and eggs at the hint of snow.

A Russian nuclear warhead from the 1980’s would be useless.
You could turn it into a dirty bomb, but without an air detonation or massive explosion, the radiation would be localized.
