New North End Zone Reviews.

I splurged for 2 club tickets and wasn't sure about the end zone view as I used to sit on the 40, 15 rows up. The new end zone seats are fantastic!!! the view is amazing and the legroom is very comfortable. Just a completely different atmosphere up there. They did an amazing job!
So happy they improved the leg room. Used to hate north EZ for that reason. Nearly impossible not to stomp on everyone’s feet on the way to/from seat.

My thoughts are almost exactly the same. I'm in 131, and I can only see a fraction of where the new scoreboard will be. The concrete overhang of the 3rd deck blocks our view. We can't hop the fence now either to go to the restrooms. Also, there was no air moving through. It will pay dividends when it gets cold, but for now, it was like a sauna in our seats. Only good parts about it was we were in the shade the entire game, and now I don't have to lean against the black fence, I can just rest my arm on the concrete above the brick.

Overall, I love it. It got loud at some points, including the safety, and Epenesa's fumble. It will be rocking for ISU this weekend.

It was like a sauna in a lot of the seats. Moved my mom to the shade, and it was very hard to find seats with a breeze.

We had a excellent experience in club section our seats in nw corner very nice view previous seats were in row 26 at 35 yard line.

Was going to say the same. It was like a sauna everywhere. We were in the east side nosebleeds, midfield and there was very little breeze for much of the game. Even at 70 rows up, I felt the breeze maybe twice (very briefly) the entire game.

Like anything the wind blockage out of the N NW will be trade-off. First half was like living in Thailand. 2nd half was a bit better down close to the visitors bench.

I sat in the new seats (Kinnick Edge) and it was amazing! So much leg room compared to previous seats and we specifically chose the last row so we could stand without annoying people behind us. Having beer at the game was awesome and I can't wait for everything to be complete next year!

I'm gonna have to check out a game up there this year. I want to see the angles from the top level off to one side. I can bring mini binoculars for the South end.

Those at the ISU game today let me know what you thought especially about the noise level.

Hate to be a complainer, but I have to agree. At many major college stadiums, the sound system has a great bass end to it which makes the PA much more pleasing and less grating on the ears, but just as importantly, any speech coming over the PA is also much easier to understand. It seems like Kinnick's sound system has always been "tinny", no matter how much they upgrade it. They've done such a nice job with so much of the stadium, you'd think they'd spend what it takes to put a top-notch sound system in there with a nice, full, deep sound that fans can tolerate and understand without any trouble.

The guy announcing sucks with his high toned voice is the problem.

Sat up there today. Pretty good view given how far away we were. Honestly, you’re really not all that far from the field due to the design of the stands. They are built upward, more than outward. Makes for a steep walk up.

As mentioned, the leg room was nice compared to the old sections. The seat space is as small as it is everywhere else.

As far as noise, it was loud enough to overtake the ISU band at times and we only had a section in between. It seemed louder last week (I know it wasn’t) sitting on the visitor’s 35 yd line. I thought the students did a great job again this week, especially with the I-O-W-A chant.

Overall, I prefer a side view, but the seats weren’t bad. I’d have no problems sitting there again.

I’d like to know how the noise level was from fans who sat on the sides or south ez.

Yes, now all the bleachers have 18” wide seats. Last year the north’s were only about 17”, maybe 16.75”. Sometime in the 80s they stadium capacity grew by simply making the seats narrower. In 2005 they widened the ease and west seats to match the new South, but didn’t touch the North

its crazy, isn't it, how good of a job they did with the North EZ and everybody is looking at the South EZ wondering how the hell they f'd it up so badly

I have a strange feeling, that with the money pouring in, the sights are set on the exact same thing for the south end zone. May be 5 years away for that phase, but I think Kinnick will go through a major overhaul over the next twenty years.

I believe there was some very schematic look into this, but they haven’t sought or received bids. I wouldn’t hold my breath for them getting filled in

It might happen sooner than you think. Remember, Iowa has to not make a profit so they may be looking for something to spend money on once the North Endzone is completed.

Let's get a contractor from Ames to do the south end zone and then not pay them.

they wouldn't start from scratch in the South EZ....would they?

Or would they just enclose it?

NOTE that not all of the North EZ club seats are sold yet

I can see enclosing it. That wouldn't necessarily make it better though. It needs to be more vertical. And without a demo, that's not going to happen.

I used to have 3 season seats in N. Endzone and one year I had two 300lb Brothers sitting adjacent and I ended up with 2 seats all season. Point being I hope there is more room.
