Eli Johnson has plenty of decent power 5 offers. Hawks really need some receivers. Seems like they have more tight end commits than receivers in the past few classes.

Welcome Eli, It's GREAT to be a HAWKEYE !Very nice offer list ... nine P5 offers.
That’s my point!great get! Eli looks like the real deal.
Now how about recruiting where we’re weak. TE is not what needs the attention.
That is some back assward logic right there.Eli Johnson has plenty of decent power 5 offers. Hawks really need some receivers. Seems like they have more tight end commits than receivers in the past few classes.
It's also going to take a few years of fielding an offense capable of passing the ball to wide receivers before Iowa becomes a legitimate destination for the higher quality WR recruits. Tight ends don't look at Iowa the same way.I agree but until we have a 2 or 3 year run of quality WR play and statistics I say get every quality TE we can
Nope.I may be wrong but with his frame I can see them starting him at TE but at 6'6 they put some weight on him he could be a future tackle, same thing they did years ago with Gallery and that worked out well.
If you had said "...talented TE's to the roster" , then your sarcasm would have been spot on.Yes, it is too bad that they are adding talented players to the roster. Not good at all!
You’re missing the pointYes, it is too bad that they are adding talented players to the roster. Not good at all!
This isn't the right thread to be complaining about Iowa's inability to recruit top WRs. We should be celebrating Johnson's commitment and the bright future we have in the TE room. If/when Iose commits, are we going to just keep bitching about our lack of talent at WR or are we going to celebrate him being a Hawk? You’re missing the point
I agree..........Yes, it is too bad that they aren't adding talented WRs to the roster. Not good at all!
Explain.Makes me think the Mason Woods is off the table. Wonder if Levar is also headed out.
Yep, could be a LB or DT or even a WR at those measurements. Not sure what his speed is.Explain.
Mason Woods is 6’2” 200 lbs.
So, if we have 38 talented punters on the roster and no talent at WR, that is a good thing?Yes, it is too bad that they are adding talented players to the roster. Not good at all!
Unless he's really good at playing TE.With his size, he could be moved to tackle ala Gallery.
This. If he's good, keep him there. I like me a tall TE.Unless he's really good at playing TE.
For our defense. So, if we have 38 talented punters on the roster and no talent at WR, that is a good thing?
That is exactly what is happening here. One solid tight end commitment equals 38 talented punters. So, if we have 38 talented punters on the roster and no talent at WR, that is a good thing?
KF agrees, but still wants the punters. That is exactly what is happening here. One solid tight end commitment equals 38 talented punters.
Not really. That’s 36 roster spots you could use for defendersFor our defense.
Who says Iowa doesn't, race baiter? Not to be critical, but when you tout yourself as "tight end university" and have numerous pro bowl tight ends currently playing in the league, shouldn't you be targeting (and landing) the most elite high school tight ends out there? Luke Lachey, for example, was the 6th best TE in his class. Erick All was the 3rd best TE in his class.
Signing 3 star recruits and beating out the likes of Vanderbilt (last place SEC team) and Michigan State (last place Big 10 team) is fine if we're recruiting most positions, but TE is Iowa's glamor position. There's no reason we shouldn't be getting exactly who we want at that position.
Okay, what was LaPorta ranked? I recall he was like a 3 star. But but we needed FIDONE!Not to be critical, but when you tout yourself as "tight end university" and have numerous pro bowl tight ends currently playing in the league, shouldn't you be targeting (and landing) the most elite high school tight ends out there? Not to mention, they literally have a commitment in the same class from the TE he’s lamenting Iowa doesn’t get in Thomas. Exactly who they wanted.Okay, what was LaPorta ranked? I recall he was like a 3 star. But but we needed FIDONE!
