New Tight End Commit

Not to mention, they literally have a commitment in the same class from the TE he lamenting Iowa doesn’t get in Thomas. Exactly who they wanted.

Iowaslaw is such a chode.
And I can't even think of a tight end we have had say the last 10 years I would consider a bust or not very good but still played.

Not to be critical, but when you tout yourself as "tight end university" and have numerous pro bowl tight ends currently playing in the league, shouldn't you be targeting (and landing) the most elite high school tight ends out there? Luke Lachey, for example, was the 6th best TE in his class. Erick All was the 3rd best TE in his class.

Signing 3 star recruits and beating out the likes of Vanderbilt (last place SEC team) and Michigan State (last place Big 10 team) is fine if we're recruiting most positions, but TE is Iowa's glamor position. There's no reason we shouldn't be getting exactly who we want at that position.
This one is for you buddy .........................................

It's because Kirk is racist and doesn't want to bring in all the elite black tight ends.

Maybe other universities should be recruiting 3 star talent, with a solid frame to build on and who love football.
It is clear that the staff is getting EXACTLY who they want at the position.
Questioning Iowa's recruiting strategy at the TE position is just plain dumb.

I may be wrong but with his frame I can see them starting him at TE but at 6'6 they put some weight on him he could be a future tackle, same thing they did years ago with Gallery and that worked out well.
Has not worked out well as of late.

OL was a glamrous position as well, that hasn't panned out over the last 4yrs. Only Lindy and he was poached from the Defense.

Lindy was also a highly touted 4 star US Army All American. Iowa's new TE commit is not that. Perhaps the coaches see him putting on weight, though, and moving to left tackle.

Wisconsin didn’t offer and they don’t have a TE commit in that class.

Maybe he’s destined to be a trusty 2nd-stringer. Nothing wrong with that - TE is the absolute least of our concerns.

No, he was not a 4 star, he was the lowest rated 3star at the game, and dominated.

Uhhh no. He was definitely a 4 star. It’s not too hard to look up. But other than that, great point. Thanks for contributing to the thread.

He was definitely a 3 star by rivals. It's not that hard to look up. But other than that, great reply. Thanks for continuing to prove your ineptness at multiple levels.

So, if we have 38 talented punters on the roster and no talent at WR, that is a good thing?
DE and LB are always recruited heavy as well. Like 4 every year. Only 2 on the field at the same time. It is how we get quality players at those positions. Pure numbers. If we recruited 6 WR every year we would come up with some talent based on numbers alone. That’s sarcasm by the way. How about more than 1QB every year? Maybe would have avoided the shitshow we had last year but at the expense of what position?

Picking the right QB is key. Grabbing more then one QB each year sounds great but its also the highest portal position on the roster. Regardless of what most here think MOST schools play one guy most of the time, and pretty much every school has one or two QB's hitting the portal every year.

As did Iowa last year and they sucked at qb. My point is all the DE’s, LB’s and TE’s they recruit more than have a chance to play much. The shear numbers will get you some talent if you can recruit at all.. It’s why we always have decent if not great players at those positions.

LOL about people complaining about having too many TE's when our 4th and even 5th string guys were forced to play last season.
Playing your 4th team te is justification for having more scholarship TEs than WRs? Most teams START 3 WRs and play 8.

With an 85 scholarship limit, you have to be smart about distribution and shouldn’t load up on a position that typically has 1 player (2 at most) in the field. The Hawks under recruited, numbers wise, at OL and WR and it bit them in the rear.
