New Two Deeps

I also think Kristian Welch is going to be really good. And I see him possibly as a DE. He looks like Aj Edds physically but in today's game he may have to put his hand on the ground and gain some weight.

I have heard very little talk about Alaric Jackson on the OL. Was very impressed with him as a recruit and Iowa had a tough time battle with some good programs IIRC.

I hope Welch bulks up to DE, because I don't see him being an effective LB. Watching his highlight tape, he looked very slow laterally and didn't show much range. He obviously is a good athlete and has very good straight-line speed for his size, just don't think he fits that Kirksey/Nieman/Edds mold.

Matt Neubauer was 6'6" and got quality reps at DT - that was back in 2003, IIRC. Also, Carl Davis was listed as 6'5" ... so he wasn't exactly short either. Morgan is on record saying that Nelson is really good at consistently staying low ... and he's not a guy who lies or exaggerates about his players.

Will Matt Nelson be the one who moves to the interior? I don't know. I could see it - I could understand it. However, ultimately it will be about who are the best 4 and who are the best "fits."
I think the original premise stands that you see very few 6'8" DT's anywhere in FBS or NFL. Definitely a leverage disadvantage.

Yes, I have read the reports that M. Nelson is good at keeping low and getting good leverage for such a tall man. It will be interesting to see how it plays out on the field.

Do you even think about what you type? Little correlation? Can't fix stupid I guess

My point is that, with the exception of Tim Dwight, name one 100 meter track guy that has excelled in Football at Iowa.

And, Thomas.........would you mind contacting the Admins and asking what NAMES I can call you, since you started with the above post? Thanks in advance.

Chris Johnson ... and there are a good number of others. They don't always seem to do so well at Iowa (in football) ... but if a track athlete is tough enough, they can also excel in football too.

That may be so, but I think that he CAN develop those lateral speeds and be affective. Don't let a couple of videos sway you. I hope and think he will contribute in a year or two.

Name 1? Do you want me to name 1 or 20? Here's 1: jermelle Lewis, Won the New England indoor state track championships in both the 55 and 100-meter dashes … like I said, can't fix stupid

100 meter times really have little correlation with football speed.
Tim Dwight might be the exception to that.
Go Hawks :)

Read what you wrote in the above post. One of the dumbest things I've ever read. You said nothing about iowa. Now again, re read the bold and think about how dumb that is.

Without giving it a lot of thought Andy Brodell comes to mind. I can still see him running away from Texas in the Bowl game.
