Next commit?

I think we get 2 more maybe 3 more. I'm going with Ayala next followed by Sokol and maybe Paddy last.

What recruit was it that someone posted a video of him wrestling his high school principle at a assembly?

i hope you are right. But it is equally likely that all 3 end up in Columbus.
Ayala and Sokol would be my strongest confidence in to be Hawks. I think the tOSU draw for Sokol went by way of portal and Ayala bleeds black and gold. My 2 cents, don't bet on it. ;)

If Tan Tom is able to reel in Ayala, that’s one heck of a job by him and his staff. From an outsider looking in I thought Ayala was Iowa’s to lose, but here it sounds like Ohio State is right there. If Ayala thinks he’s going to become a better wrestler at Ohio State than Iowa, then all power to him.

Ayala is going to Minnesota and I believe Ohio State after that. Tan Tom is a very “aggressive” recruiter

Do we have any money left for Ayala and Paddy?
In terms of need Drake should be more on Iowa's list. Tom meet with him the first day he was allowed and we need a career 125 because i don't think Ybarra will be able to hold the weight past his RSFR year. We have Brands and PK to man 65/74 in the coming years. That being said of course it would be great to land both because they are hammers.

Remaining scholly money is not going to be nearly as important to Iowa and PSU if these guys are able to start making bank for camps.

Ayala is a very good student. I think the Hawks can get creative in the way his school is paid for with many different available resources to fund it for an in state minority student athlete.

Of course I might be full of it on this, but that is my understanding of the situation from a Uni, ISU and U of I standpoint.

But right now both of these guys are going to be a battle with Ohio State imho

As for Sokol, we just signed two other 138-pounders from the same class, #22 Henson and #19 Rathjen. #10 Sokol was the one I'd rather have had, but it looks to me like we spent our 141-149 money and kissed Sokol goodbye.
I know he was coming back from injury this past season and he has had a great Cadet resume, but Henson and Rathjen might both be better folk style wrestlers when it’s all said and done than Sokol.

Rathjen has a high, high ceiling and will just make a huge jump in the iowa room I believe

I agree and based on who is in house and committed you would think Ayala and Paddy or someone like Voinovich might be higher on the priority list.

That would be a reasonable take. Once Sokol decommitted, that opens up recruitment for others. When those areas of weight start to fill, only so much money to go around. The good news is the cupboard isn't bare because Sokol changed his mind, whether temporary or permanent. Rathjen and Henson are promising prospects for sure. Like all of them, we will see to what degree in 5 years or so.

Maybe my timeframe is off, but I'm thinking if Teasdale doesn't decommit, maybe we never see DeSanto in Iowa City, and the way it worked out we now have both. That seems like a good thing at this point in time.
