Next seasons starters?

Thanks @ichawk24 for the different look at minutes played. This revised version shows more reliance on the top players last year than this year, which is closer to my perception. I'm not going to speedsheet minutes played for Bluder's coaching career, but my feeling is that Bluder often collapsed playing time to the core 8 players by conference time unless the score got out of hand either way. With the loss of last year's three vets plus Davis, it is hard to know if Jensen is changing that pattern or i it is just a reflection of the wildly different team roster.

No doubt Lisa had last years vets to lean on while Jan has been "feeling out" different lineup combinations with all the players having new roles this year. I'm sure if you just took the last 6 or 7 games it would look alot more like last year with the starters playing major minutes, and shorter rotation..

He was replying to me saying that the earlier graph showed players whose minutes played were based off of only the games in which they played. Ex: KJ shown as 3 minutes/gm, when she only played in one game for 3 minutes last season. It had Heiden at 10 min/gm, but made no allowance for her not playing at all in 4 games, so her actual minutes are more like 8 min/gm. This is in reference to the poster who was plotting next seasons minutes available, but I thought that was not a true reference to minutes played per game, because if you added the minutes up they came up to well over the 200 available minutes. Of course thats because as an ex: you be crediting KJ with 3 minutes per game when she really only played on average about 5 seconds per game if your using this to plot available minutes vs those who played. Hence the "true minutes".
Thanks for the clarification.

It's a pretty different team. Next season the sophomores will dominate total minutes played and Deal of course. Hannah and TM will play heavy minutes but after that... Heiden may even be starting (I agree with that school of thought).

Personally I would start:

Guyton
Deal
McCabe/Stremlow
Transfer wing
Stuelke

I think Hannah has proven she's best as a center even if it's not great for her pro prospects and Iowa has played it's best with her surrounded by smaller lineups. Heiden will be the primary backup post and Hays probably mostly plays in blowouts or when there's big foul trouble.

I don't trust Mallegni to start yet so I'd like to see them hit the portal for a bigger wing but if they can't pull that off then you're probably looking at Mallegni in that spot and hoping the jumper gets better, or Houston if she's just awesome from the jump (possible, she's better than her current high school ranking). I'd also like to see them find another ball handler in the portal.

Thought I read Guyton is looking to transfer to a winning program?

what are you talking about
You have not heard that Guyton is transfering? It is even worse than that! Rumors abound that most of the team will be transfering because the crowd noise at Carver is so loud that it interferes with concentration and makes them nervous! Actually, a good thing cause most of the players are totally worthless. The real problem of course is that our coaching staff has no idea what they are doing. Hard to believe they can even find their way to Carver on game day! What a mess- maybe people should find other things to do on game day. (spoken in jest, if you don't realize- some might not)

She is likeable I get it but she isnt playing on the next level. Also isn't nearly as good as last year.

The old saying "as good as the sum of its parts" Hannah was a part but w/o CC isn't effective. Maybe if she put alot of extra time developing a midrange shot she'd be more effective. Wouldn't hurt her to make a layup under pressure rather then just throwing it up with a wish and a hope.

More concerned about Iowa Football future than women's basketball. Without football revenue these basketball programs will be even worse than they already are.

"Worse than they already are?" One of the basketball programs is in extremely good shape (hint it's the one the forum you are currently posting in is about) lol.

Also assuming the entire football program and athletic department are about to crumble seems like a very dramatic reaction to losing the RB coach.

They are a sub .500 conference team after they lose at Michigan.

They're comfortably in the tournament in a rebuilding year and have been competitive in every game playing in a loaded conference. They have a five star recruit coming in next year and have a strong chance at landing level others. The program is in a great place.
