Next year

While I realize everyone is upset about this season, In her postgame interview Jan said something that made me smile, Asked about needing on court leadership and who is filling that role she said Aliyah Guyton, Paraphrasing but she said Aliyah has that her DNA and is becoming more vocal and mature beyond her years. IMO that bodes very well for the future when a freshman isn’t afraid to step up and be a leader.

I appreciate your positivity, it’s just a game.

Ava with zero minutes in a loss. I hope she's back next year.
I understand her family moved to North Liberty so they could be near Ava and watch her play. I hope they don't have regrets.
It's a shame she doesn't see a lot more time this year as we will need her as a starter next year and needs for the game to slow down for her. That's her only problem. When the game slows down her shots will drop.

Deal will do for iowa what Prince did for Nebraska
your assuming she sticks with her choice, the way things are going i could really easily see her go to a team that has a GOOD head coach with a fun brand of bball being played, cause that sure the heck isn't Iowa.

Didnt see the game but I am shocked our prized big is not playing this far into the year, at home especially. The future could get really ugly fast with some defections which are not hard to envision -unfortunately.

OP with a nice post and just like clockwork, here they come with every negative scenario they can think of. BAU

It's a down year and I think we all knew it would be w/out CC. Right? Most of us would be willing to admit to it.

Our program has to have one superstar surrounded by a bunch of average players because we don't recruit well enough to have a starting five consisting of above-average players.

Addie Deal will be in Iowa next year. One down season isn't the end of the world.

Well, I HOPE she starts next year. The problem is we still have the same issue with Hannah. She needs to play, but she can't play effectively outside the lane. Does Jan have to play Hannah at the 5 again next season so she can keep her on the floor? And then you have Hays coming in as well, another athletic 6'5" player who needs to see the floor. The "post whisperer" needs to come up with a plan where either Heiden or Hays is on the floor next year all the time. The two highest graded post recruits Iowa has ever signed do not need to be spending the majority of the time on the bench. Hannah needs to play, (she's too good of an athlete not to) but the staff need to figure out a way to make this work.

Hopefully Steulke doesn't have another surgery during off season and she can actually work on her 4 skills.

That would be nice. Not trying to be a downer, but I'm not holding my breath on that. I'm not a big believer that players suddenly become better perimeter shooters after having played middle school, high school, probably 6 or 7 seasons of high level AAU ball, and then 3 years of college, and the your going to see some big jump in certain skills. You can certainly refine some skills that are already there, (CC22 working on her mid range game in this off season), But i'm not convinced you can make a big jump as a shooter after already 10-12 years of playing at the highest level available...

Another good reason to exploit coaching skills.

Ahh true- but look at Megan G in the pros- turned into a good perimeter scorer when she never attempt one in college
