That explains why he was at a gas station in NL on Sunday signing autographs for some kids. Think he will get a shot somewhere though by the start of this season.
Kicker is a tough business in the NFL, there are no backups, just 32 roster spots. The way that a lot of these guys break in to the league is staying in kicking shape for a few years after college and being ready to try out every time there is an injury.
Koehn looked solid in his one field goal attempt on Thursday. A 45 yarder that looked like it was still going up when it went through the uprights. He had a couple of kickoffs too, kicked just short of the end zone, looked like he did it on purpose since touchback's come out to the 25 now.
Koehn has the leg strength for sure, but his accuracy and consistency was not elite. That can get better but no one is going to pay a kicker to improve on the job.
