Nice article on McCollum and mentions of Iowa

For Iowa, It]s McCollum and pay up more than we were paying Fran or go out and get a no name rising star from Div2. Unfortunately, WVU looking for a head coach and that is better job as far as NIL/pay.

I could see McCollum going for the Rock star money like Devries did and get signed somewhere else at $5+ million/yr. IF he's a long-term guy and wants to build a program and be a home state hero, I still think it can be done at Iowa and he'd ultimately make rock star money.

Unfortunately the idea of Iowa being a dream job for any hot coaching prospect is a pipe dream. Devries showed clearly it is al nearly always about the money and who can turn down the type of money Indian was throwing away.

McCullum is going to make his decision on the Iowa job based on
several factors:

1. Is his starting salary at Iowa competitive with other offers.
2. Is Iowa serious about increasing the NIL money for men's basketball.
3. Is his family willing to live in Iowa City for the next 5 to 10 years.

Bottom Line: Hopefully, McCullum has some love in his heart for the
Hawkeyes and wants the challenge of being in the Big Ten. We will
be fortunate to have him as our next coach.

I'm not sure why people assume Devries turned down Iowa. Personally, I've thought that McCollum was the much better prospect for some time. Devries never having won a an NCAA game seems like a recipe for disaster at a school where the previous coach was just fired for not being able to win more than one NCAA game. I would have ben OK with Devries, but I don't think his upside is that much higher than Fran's.
