Nice article on Nate Stanley

The Gary Anderson recruiting folly greatly benefitted Iowa's 2016 class. Besides Stanley, RB Toren Young played high school football just a short drive from Camp Randall, basically their backyard. Young was conference and all-area MVP, Wisconsin 1st Team all-state both AP and coaches, almost 2,800 yards rushing and 28 TDs as a senior. 5ft11 220 - could be the bruiser in a future "1-2 punch" Iowa backfield.

Wow, both the writer and Drew Tate seem to agree that Iowa's offense is complex and takes a long time to learn. So the coaches weren't just making that up so they could avoid playing the best quarterback?

It's so difficult to learn that a true freshman is the No. 2 QB over a kid who's been in the system for a few years and who was the backup last year. FWIW.

It's a complex playbook.. Basic to begin with and each week they throw more wrinkles in. It's why typically you see upperclassmen at skill positions early on. Stanley beating out weigers is a big deal. Hopefully Iowa can get some wideouts to help him along.. That is the thing that hurt Tate the most.. Hinkle and Solomon left, there wasn't much left.

Sounds like most of his tools are ahead of the curve, let's just hope the accuracy catches up.

You're assuming that they both know the playbook equally and have the same skill set. I don't think that's the case...
