NIT has a Quasi 4 Quarter instead of Two 20 Minute Halfs.

Just like the NCAA womens game the last two years. I don't really mind it, but wish they'd change the free throws to a one & one at 4 fouls then 2 on the 6th foul.

Yeah some games you'll see 4 fouls in the first 5 minutes.....Games could take forever if you get to that bonus and shoot 2 FTs EVERYTIME.

I just want to clarify as I am not sure they will have quarters. They are just resetting the team fouls at 10 minute mark each half. Do not think there will be a stoppage in play at 10 minute mark.

I personally hate the 1-and-1.. don't know how I feel about all this yet tho, will be interesting to watch

How will they do that if there is a play in process and a foul. Say sorry it happened at 9:59, so no soup for you.

Here is my theory why they are making it "quarter like" without making it quarters. When they use quarters, as in the women's games, the TV timeouts are:
under 5 1st quarter, end of the 1st, under 5 2nd quarter, under 5 3rd quarter, end of the 3rd quarter, and under 5 in the 4th. That's 6.
With halves, you have:
the under 16, 12, 8, and 4, in each half. That's 8.

Any more questions?

Rice is playing in the CBI. They are using these rules also. Might go watch after work Wednesday. Not surprised to see Rice in this tournament. Mike Rhoades(he was VCU top assistant when they went to final 4) basically said the team deserved to keep playing. Presto Rice opens the checkbook to host a game. If management had said no they might be looking for a new coach soon.
