REALLY PEOPLE::

PLAY FOR NEXT YEAR ?

NO NOT GOING TO HAPPEN NCAA FOR THIS YEAR AND EVERY YEAR OR ITS A FAIL...PERIOD THATS THE EXPECTATION NOTHING LESS

That's fine, but what do you propose? Fire our coach? The coach that built this program from the bog of eternal stench into a program that went to three straight NCAAs in a row? The coach that plays an exciting brand of basketball? The coach that doesn't get mad if his players try to start a f fast break? The coach that recruited what appears to be our best recruiting class in years with 3 freshman starting? The coach that has several 4* star players signed over the next few years? Should we roll the dice with someone new? Perhaps end up with another Todd Lickliter?

It's not that anyone is thrilled with how the team is playing this year. However, we recognize that the team is young and will get better. And there's no reason to panic. We will be good again. Just probably not this year.

rNever touched a drop sorry sober as can be but I have expectations doesn't take to much effort to make NCAA Tournament so that would be minimal requirement to define success every year
Don't worry guys. Captain Capslock has had multiple drunken rants tonight.

Who says the team or the coaches aren't trying for the NCAA tournament this year? But just saying "our expectation is to make the NCAA tournament" doesn't make it happen. You actually have to go do it. This particular Iowa team does not look like an NCAA team. It doesn't mean all hope is abandoned. It means as fans we might have to adjust expectations (for this year) otherwise you'll be miserable when Iowa is 9-13 in January.

Totally disagree on the "taking much effort" part to make the NCAA tournament. There are over 320 Division I teams, and only 68 of them make the tournament. Currently, Iowa is one of 3 Big 10 teams to have made the NCAA tournament 3 straight years (Michigan State and Wisconsin being the others). Not Indiana, not Purdue, not Ohio State. Should Matta have been fired last year because Ohio State didn't make it? Crean? Painter? Unless you are the bluest of the blue bloods, or a dominant team in a mid-major conference, making the NCAA tournament is a big deal.

Looking forward to andoboy launching his coaching career and showing us all how it is done. Until then, I'm afraid I'll have to continue to believe that earning one of, what, 32-34 spots after all the automatic qualifiers, is not an easy task.
