No, the Refs Didn’t Cost Us This Game

So what were they watching on the monitors? The officials watched something, and the TV broadcast didn't show what was on the monitor so I suppose they could have been checking flight times or maybe porn. But they changed the call after going to the scorer's table and seemingly watching something on monitors.

My guess is they were watching the play, since they reversed their call, and maybe without a formal "replay."

The never went to the monitors…they huddled and discussed it in the floor.

Evidently this gentlemen forgot the out of bounds call against Iowa in Minnesota a number of years ago that gave the ball to Minny with under 10 seconds left in the game. Don't remember if Iowa was up or not but the Minnesota player was diffidently out of bounds.
2 words, Jim Bane.

One bad call.

That was Scriotto. No one could have seen the play and made the call he made. He is probably the most dishonest official working NCAA games.

Scirotto was NOT the ref involved with that play...it was Chris Beaver.

Do you ever get tired of just completely making stuff up?

Absolutely atrocious officiating. Cost Iowa game and probably NCAA tournament bid. 2017.

We are talking about two different games apparently. I have a very vivid memory of the play due to the circumstances of where I was watching it, so my memory is clear, although it might have been an earlier year. How do you even know officiating assignments from 5 to maybe 8 years ago much less who made what calls when in the game, make it up? The call of which I am thinking was definitely Scriotto. Even were I wrong, being mistaken is far from making something up, simp.

I am trying to avoid responding to the nasty gastropodical trolls this year since it's likely my last (maybe after a little banter I let 'em up easy); but you, specifically and uniquely, are a very different case. I warned you about the next time you call me a liar when our memories differ. So you go back to where ever you went for the last several months, since it was apparently not a cemetery. The next time YOU mention me I will light you up like the 4th of July every single time I see your narcissistic ****ing screenname between now and whatever day I die, or become unable to post, this year. Every topic, every post. Every time Legend appears you will get nuked. You remember what that was like Ephialtes? I will make you nostalgic for the school years when all the other kids ridiculed you for being weird and different and your self-esteem was destroyed. Nostalgia.

Maybe we can poll all the people you've told to kill themselves how they feel about the reemergence of the demented Legend.

Your smart answer is silence. You put me on ignore and stick to it. Better yet, stay on the Iowa State boards.

Scirotto actually got it right in real time . It was one of the other 🤡 (or both) that overruled him, counting the basket.
Every once in a while he steps up and gets it right. Looking at his overall history he’s not much different than the other questionable stripes the BIG hires. That crew has another coach questioning their impartiality and consistency throughout the game. But how could you not when each half is called so differently.

I opine Scriotto is a gambler. There is a definite pattern to his calls. For example, he will go for stretches where he is always the second official to blow the whistle. It looks like he's straight up until you realize how often this happens. Compare it to other officials. Of course, the guy has 16-pound cannon balls in the last two minutes, where you can break a game one way or the other. Sometimes he's calling a barrage of fouls in what seems like a blow out...padding the lead sounds a lot like taking a line or the over or both.

Everyone is predictable if you follow their patterns. Scriotto has been generally worse for Iowa than better but he's not predictably bad for Iowa every game.

Courtney Green is just a straight up ally of the blue bloods. No one needs to tell Courtney who is supposed to win, he can read the jerseys.

I seem to remember "TV" Teddy Valentine single handedly deciding one of our games against Sparty a few years ago.
His evident dislike of the Hawkeyes was apparent. I saw first hand repeatedly making bad calls and doing his skipping up the floor act. For me it was an invisible call on Mark Gannon and the jim bane call in one year that determined the outcomes of two games. Gannon got called for a foul with no time left and Iowa up by 1. They make the 2 free-throws and game over. Jim Bane in the other game probably would have been beaten to death if he was caught walking around in iowa city for years. Refs di cost games.

Don't forget all the calls at the end of the Illinois game in that three-game run. Kenny Arnold being fouled three or four times by Illini giving up the fouls, while trying to call timeout and finally being pushed OB and the officials giving Illinois the ball? There is no question that the three final games of 81 were rigged against Iowa.

I'm surprised more people don't realize how crappy the refs have been in the big ten. We are talking about 70's, 80's, etc when refs did cost us games without a doubt. Maybe Warren will do something.

The Big Ten quarterfinal, I think. It was the game before he talked about his admiration of Izzo and the Sparty program. I cannot remember exactly but Sparty played like 85% of the game without being called for fouls. Some atrocious fouls right before an official went uncalled. But Teddy V, he knew where the fouls were, all in black jerseys.

Although, Teddy V hated Knight. It was hilarious to watch Teddy V hammering Knight, whose success at Indiana after about 82 or 83 was completely facilitated and promoted by unimaginable officiating by today's standards. No replays, no social media, no cell pics or videos, the league backing the refs no matter how outrageous.

Maybe sometime when the unicorns and the Easter Bunny bring me 75 pounds of dark chocolate for my birthday.
