NOC3 - Results

Nothing wrong when competing against some of the countries best.

Cassioppi and Tucker "should be" close but he just mops the mat with him. That's the difference between a top 3 and a top 15 HWT. I wish we could've gotten him vs Nevills just to shut the FSU fans up. Nobody is ready for Stevenson but I'd like to see the match.

Schriever came up short but I thought he looked really athletic and is obviously well coached by Sebolt. Looks like a kid just getting ready to grow and fill out. I don't like all of the ISU influence in that room though...

Really great event and am happy I could watch it from Denver on Flo.

I think Cassiopi is the second best heavyweight in the class. Have never been sold on Parris. I think he’s been highly overrated because he’s a good “athlete”. Think Cass places higher each year at NCAA.

I think when he commits full time to wrestling and gets a little bigger, he could put himself in a position to contend with Stevenson. Parris has blown me away with his motor, athleticism, and "feel." He has as high of a ceiling as anyone but I feel his floor is lower than Cass, Stevenson, and Nevills.

Cass will be a constant 2-4 guy for 4 years and can win a title when Gable is gone

I have not been impressed at all with his “feel.” In the matches I’ve seen he looks pretty sloppy and uses a lot of brute force. I think he loses that advantage in college and up at heavyweight.

Both he and Rathjen are gangly, growing into their bodies. That Reno kid is solid.

I don't mean technique, I mean his ability to create opportunities for himself and get out of bad positions. He is certainly sloppy but imagine what a good coach will do with that combo of strength and speed. Plus his motor is nonstop and that's hard to find at HWT.

Heck he beat Cohlton Schultz, who is a super stud himself, being sloppy. That's a kid I'd love to have. I think he will have a phenomenal career.

A little bit of a rundown:

A good event. Thanks to BBWrestler for hooking up the Vine for the social. Thanks to everybody at the HWC for showing up. It was pretty cool to talk to some of the guys. We talked to Mark Perry for about 20 minutes....he loves to talk wrestling and was very open and honest with his opinions. It was great listening to a guy that has been around the block. His diverse look on things will really help us out.

All of that ISU influence in that room didn't impact Teske's decision.

Rathjen looks like he's going to be a big kid. Certainly not a lightweight in college.
His dad was a state champ around 170 lbs and his brother is the 195 lber. Caleb will fill out too but he will be a tough at 113 this year.

Tony Cassioppi (Team Clark/Ragan (Red) ) over Ronald Tucker (Team Gilman/Louive (Blue) ) Fall 3:08
**Going to be a good one!

Lots of good matches, unfortunately, Iowa kids came up short on almost all of them.

Anybody able to share what these 2 weighed in at? Tucker hasn't competed since the state dual finals; he was supposed to compete at the Cadet duals and Fargo but struggled to come close to making weight. I'm just wondering if he's any closer to making 285 now that the season is arriving.

Results from 2017 Conflict at Carver...

High School (9th-12th Grade) - 113
1st Place - Nicholas Oldham of Sebolt Wrestling Academy
2nd Place - Matthew Ramos of Colt Wrestling
1st Place Match
1st Place Match - Nicholas Oldham (Sebolt Wrestling Academy) won in tie breaker - 1 over Matthew Ramos (Colt Wrestling) (TB-1 3-1)

Same Matt Ramos who beat Rathjen? Any info on the Oldham kid? Big win for him.

Yes, same Ramos. Oldham is a Junior at WDM Valley. Finished 5th last year, losing to Schreiver in QF (lost to him 3-4 times in season.) Runner-up the year before, losing to Biscoglia.

Oldham is a big kid. Heard he was dropping 15lbs to make 106 last year. Don’t know about this year. Interesting that he is at Sebolt now.

He wrestled in the tournament the next day so I’m assuming he made weight.

So does anyone think Rathjen will be around 141ish? or will he most likely hit a big growth spurt?

Schriever is probably a career 125 right?

I think Rathjen could wind up anywhere between 149-165. He'll thicken up. I saw Devos at practice Sunday and my he's gotten taller and is filling out. He's 6'. He'd be nice 157 lber in the future. Quick as a cat.

That's why I asked. I knew his weight had gotten away from him since the end of the hs season and he has found difficulty reining it in. If he's 330 he's no closer to being ready for the season than at the events he missed.

Trackwrestling has his weight 285 for Sat tournament. I wouldn't think he would be allowed to compete if he was 330 so hopefully he's got his weight under control now

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but generally at these back to back events the wrestlers that compete in both events are not required to weigh in for the 2nd event. Even though BIGant stated they didnt weigh in for the 1st event its not out of the realm of possibilities that he was on the "list of guys that competed yesterday" so was not asked to weigh in.

*yes I nicknamed Cassioppi "BIGant"

I didn't think of that could've been the way it happened.I saw 285 on track and was thinking maybe he got his weight down. And if that is how it happened and he was 330 that's 45lbs over and how fair was that to his competition

For reference to what?

most likely dayhawk saying that he can contend with gable.

I'm very excited for Cass, but I think we also need to be realistic that gable is a very special talent, dare I say once in a generation. the only reason it seems a little more "dull" than usual with a talent like gable, is that we have probably three just like him currently around his age bracket.

I could be wrong but I think DayHawk was referring to Parris as possibly being able to contend with Gable when he concentrates only on wrestling and gains more weight. It looks like EVERYBODY on this thread believes Cass is a notch below Gable which is why I'm wondering why the video was posted "for reference."

LOL Three “once in a generation,” prospects about the same age? I’m not sure that makes sense.

Exactly why I said he's not shining as brightly as a prospect of his ability usually would because we have gable, Dayton, Spencer and mark hall all within a couple years of each other
