Looking pretty dang sweet! I have a feeling the North Endzone club seating/indoor area is going to be popular enough where we might see it one day in the South end zone as well.

Anybody have seats in the North EZ this year?

Thoughts?

I like the fact that half of Kinnick (the West side + the North EZ) has suite/club option seating. At the same time, the history of the place is unquestioned.

And from everything reported, its going to be even louder.

8 days till kickoff!

Thanks, OP. The Kinnick cam is no longer online, so your update is appreciated. Looks nice.

They posted a couple pictures on Twitter from up top. A few rows from where we will be sitting for the Wisconsin game. It validated my reasoning for buying those tickets. It’s really high and close to the field it looked like. You’ll actually be able to have some depth perception on the play as opposed to the old, lower stands.

LOL!!! I hear its VERY steep ;)

Anyone who ever sat in the top rows of the old Field House for basketball knows exactly what you mean. You didn't want to be up there if you had vertigo. But you were closer to the court than most of the seats at Carver are. Other than the steel pillars, the intimacy of the Field House and the view of basketball it provided were on a par with Kinnick. Too bad about the mess that is the house that Carver built.

That is awesome!

It looks nice but would have been better had the dimensions extended to the end of the section on either side.

Also, some stills from WHO. Click on pic and then use arrows (>) on right margin of pic. hopefully that works.

We get the first look inside the new north end zone at Kinnick! The views are all new and fantastic, but we think the real difference will be on the field when this steep mountain of brick, steel and concrete projects a laser blast of noise at opponents. Oh, and there’s beer.

I noticed the seat benches are on the level to the feet of the row behind. I see a small gap but I feel weird about that. Seems like a lot of inadvertant toes to the butt and no where for spilled liquids to go. Just an observation.

1. I think the picture is a little deceiving. There is a gap, but the seats are steeper, so yeah people probably are still gonna run into some issues.

2. Don't spill your drinks..........problem solved. ;)

That looks like trouble for sure. Hope the picture doesn't tell the whole story.

If anyone in that 3rd deck has cocktails before the game, I’d recommend a safety harness. Looks awesome though

It’s steep, but has handrails (unlike the east and west stands). I think Andy’s selfie camera position exaggerates how steep it is, just a little. Those that play football video games might really like these seats, though. Even though the back of the new north is much taller, the back row is way closer to the field than the back seat of the south stands (not just measured horizontally, but measured at a diagonal down to the goalpost)

If you sit in the south end zone you have no scoreboard. They should have at least put up a temporary one in the north end zone.

I think the strip will be operational in the North this year. No video board, but they’ll be able to see time/down etc.

This. P-C had a brief article today about this year’s conditions for the North

Except for the big one right behind them.....

They have to turn around! That's unacceptable! I swear, we've got a small percentage of folks in our fanbase that will complain no matter what is going on. They could have rebuilt Kinnick in the offseason with a complimentary beer cooler under ever seat and a robotic arm to scratch your balls with the push of a button. And they'd still complain.

Cmon, no room for the ball scratcher, but since those feet are so close, you could just ask the person behind you to do the honors......LOL!!!

To be fair, there are plenty of high seats in the South end zone where you can't see shit on the scoreboard behind you.

We bought the upgraded seats in the upper deck (just a few rows at the very front of the upper deck have these). Same seats as in the club section but only $200 extra per seat. We're in Sec 333 row 1 in a row by ourselves in front of a concrete wall that has a loge box above that will be used for ADA seating. Looks really sweet.

You will have to let us know what its like sitting there after a game; normally no one wants to sit in the end zone; they do seem like awesome seats! Do you get Club access?

sounds like they got the North End zone just right; now....what do we do with the South End zone? LOL

I didn't realize they were going to have love boxes up there. Nice! Those upper chairbacks will be a very good view especially for NEZ play. They are up high and reasonably close.

From Chad Leiskikow of the Des Moines Register:

Y.ou’re going to love the north end zone.

Although capacity dropped about 1,300 as a result of the renovation (to 69,250), Kinnick Stadium is going to feel bigger and maybe louder than ever. The steep, three-tiered tower of concrete and steel has a menacing look — and that’s before fans climb into the new seats with improved leg room.

The whole shebang won’t be complete until next season, when the suites, restrooms and concession areas are finished. But it’s ready for occupancy Week 1.

Even Kirk Ferentz was impressed after recently practicing a few times in Kinnick, telling the Murph & Andy Show this week that “it really looms large.”
