Cadet 120: Should be good - Iowa sending top group

DeVos, Cade Cadet Men 120
Reeves, Aden Cadet Men 120
Teske, Brody Cadet Men 120

Kyle Biscoglia going 113 JR
Alex Thomsen going 126 JR

i see a Carson Manville at schoolboy 120 from VA. I know Mason was NJ, but was that just Blair? Any relation?

Dylan Koontz won both styles at 113 without giving up a point, including dominant shut-outs over Biscoglia. Multiple Fargo AA, Wisconsin state champ. Twin brother Brady is a stud, as well (also a multiple Fargo AA and Wisconsin state champ), but missed Northern Plains with a back muscle strain. Their dad grew up in Iowa City (and is a huge Hawk fan) and they still have family in Iowa, so some pretty strong Iowa ties. Two kids to keep an eye on.

Mason wrestled for Team Virginia last summer. He actually left Blair after getting beat by Marinelli I believe then went to Minnesota then to Wyoming Seminary.

I was suprised by some of the results from Iowas top young guys. Teske and Thomsen losing were a couple.

Rathbun back on the mat - looks like he's recovered from his knee surgery. Tech fall'd his way thru the 132 bracket.

Baptista wins both styles at 160. From Nebraska & Iowa State recruit

Manville is from VA, I've seen him wrestling for the VA teams since he was in elementary school (wrestling in the middle school divisions). Anecdotal aside - I can distinctly remember working the scorer's table at a Wildwood duals and the scorer from the VA team saying "Waaayt till you see THIS kid - and he's only in the 6th grade." Carson is his brother who is trending to a similar career arc as Mason, and they have a younger one, Pierson, who they all say will be the best of all of them. My guess is that Pierson is around 5th grade so he's a long ways away.

Looks like the Shulist kid from Wisky took out both Devos and Teske(in finals) by TF - impressive.
Teske beat Reeves (12-8) in semis

Thomsen lost on criteria:
1st Place Match - Jake Gliva (Minnesota) won by decision over Alex Thomsen (Iowa) (Dec 4-4)

He did have an big win over Bianchi:
Semifinal - Alex Thomsen (Iowa) won by decision over Paul Bianchi (Wisconsin) (Dec 18-10)

Anyone having any info on GIlva from Minny? I'm not familiar with him.

This Alexander Lloyd kid is a hammer. I've seen him at USA post season and now at northern plains. He's killed everyone. I heard he's Russian. I'm not sure how long he's been here.

I believe Gilva is from Farmington, think he was a state champ this year.

Jake Gliva is from Simley and won his first state title this year as a sophomore. His cousin Victor is from Farmington and was also a state champ this year.

Schulist is very tough, indeed. Just FYI, Dylan Koontz beat him both times last year during the high school season on his way to an undefeated year, including a pretty decisive 8-4 win in the Wisconsin state finals.
