Not that it matters because we will get a top 5 game next week, but to all the nay sayers denying we even have a top 25 win (false) there is a very good chance NW slips into top ten this week with a win. Sitting at 16 they could jump: Michigan, FSU/Florida loser, Stanford/Notre dame loser (Notre dame's a stretch), Baylor, Navy, and Oklahoma State (with loss).

Wisconsin should also move into top 25 if they win with at least 3 teams dropping out, and a potential for more. Too bad Pitt couldn't win, they were close.

Now I know this doesn't matter, win we're in, lose we're out, but I just thought it was interesting, and amusing that we're 10 point underdogs to any top 25 team, and slapped a top 10 team by 30.

Just fact checked my own post. I do think they will jump all 3 loss teams, but doubt they jump Baylor and Oklahoma State, and TCU and Oregon could jump them, but still.

Their two losses were to good teams, but they didn't simply lose those games, they were destroyed in those games. I think that has more to do with it than anything else.

The feudal lords of college football nobility are just mad there aren't 4 SEC teams locked into the playoffs. So they're trying to keep everyone else out.

That's likely true, although Stanford seemed to get a pass for losing to them.

Huge years for the purple nerds.

I didn't think they were nearly as good as their record.

Great coaching by Fitz to get 10 wins.

Crazy to think we could have been better off not smacking NW.

If you've followed NU all year, the you know they are not a top-10 team. Great defense but a sketchy offense directed by a freshman and centered around Justin Jackson at RB. NU played poorly against Iowa, particularly on defense, but that's their fault, and Iowa was a damn good team this year. I think NU is no better than a top 15 team. I'd love to see them prove me wrong in a bowl game.

NW would beat that dumpster fire called "Florida," so whaddaya think of that? Alabama, which has an offense about as exciting as watching an Iowa cornfield in January, wins by handing off to a huge back 40 times a game. Scintillating stuff.

The whole of the SEC is a bunch of posers. Same with the Big 12 and Pac 12.

FACT: Northwestern BEAT Stanford, 16-6. Deal with it.

BTW: A mediocre Alabama will beat Florida about 56-0. Florida may not get a first down. Offense? What's that?

Amazing season for the Wildcats and a truly great coaching job by Fitz to accomplish this with a freshman quarterback. Winning 10 games at northwestern is something that might not be done again in any of our lifetimes. Very impressive season for northwestern.

We won 10 games in 1995, 2012, and this year. I expect NU will win ten games again soon. Recruiting has been steadily improving if not consistent over the past 5 years. There's no reason why we can't be competitive in the West division.
