Not a fan of the spotlight on the mat

I hope Iowa never does this, hate it. Turning the lights off is good when you want to go to bed or to the movies, not when you want to get the crowd into it. Horrible environment IMO.

???

Love the spotlights. Every kid I know loved wrestling under a spotlight. I've seen some really raucous crowds in a dark gym.

Agree. There was some talk in an Iowa Wrestling fan group on Facebook about doing this for Iowa-PSU, as PSU does it in Rec Hall. I strongly disagreed with the idea. Hope we never do it in Carver. IMO, Carver is much more intimidating for visiting teams with the bright lights on where they're out in the open and can see the Carver crowd plain as day. Putting visiting teams (and the crowd) in the shadows takes away from the Carver mystique and takes the heat off the visitors, IMO.

They tried it in Carver once, about 10-15 yrs ago, and the crowd heckled the staff into turning the lights back on. They never tried it again.

Hey Mr. Royce great job over there bringing home the troupy.
You and Ringer still waiting to get his passport?
Hope they don't run out of glasses...;)
Also agree with you leave the arena lights on ...

Good plan. It's kind of "neat" for an occasional novelty type of thing, but other than that, meh.

The spotlight should be saved for the finals only in tournaments. I missed seeing the team members reactions, the flickers in the crowd and especially the Caldwell moms out there.

The only benefit I could find would be seeing how the wrestlers would react under the lights- saturday night type stuff.

BTW, nice to hear Cory's injury isn't season ending. He is my favorite Iowa wrestler.

Interesting -- don't recall that. Must have missed that meet. Thanks for the info.
