As National Coach of the year, Licklighter likely had many choices about where he could have gone. Barta was likely more in recruiting mode than vetting mode. It still astounds me that this hire didn't work out. On the surface it seemed like a good match.

I will never forget meeting him at the press conference announcing him as Iowa's coach. A really nice guy. He didnt have that aura about him that most coaches do. KF is a nice guy too but you feel like you are in the presence of a leader. TL seemed shy. It was weird.

You are right in that Lick seemed to have zero charisma. It is a hard thing to define but the good ones have it and it helps a great deal in recruiting. Also I hate to bring this up but that little gal in your picture might not be aware that we can see her panties.
