Is this right? As of now, PSU will have in their room as Freshman and redshirt freshmen in fall 2018: 126 Teasdale, 133 RBY, 141 Verkleeren, 149 Lee, 157 Berge, 165 Wittlake, 174 Manville, 195 Beard, Hwt Nevellis, all in the top 3 of their weight or potentially the top 3 of their weight in HS? Am I missing anybody? That is just disheartening. And we don't even contact a 3 time Fargo winner?

Yeah I wouldn't go after the kid either...I see no potential in. Not athletic enough.

Maybe we don't have a spot/money? Teams listed there have plenty of extra dough to offer him. ;) And I mean scholarship money, of course. #9.9

One possible explanation for not pursuing Brooks would be if TnT think they have a good chance for Hidlay but believe Brooks is a long shot. Taking a flier on Brooks, under this scenario, would be unlikely to land Brooks but could end up alienating Hidlay (no one likes being anyone's second choice) to the point that Iowa gets neither Brooks nor Hidlay. If that's the thinking, it wouldn't be irrational.

As for PSU pursuing Brooks, they already have Beard and Wittlake coming in and Mark Hall in the fold. Their cupboard is full. If they land Brooks, a really good upper weight is going to be sitting on the bench. PSU is going to have a helluva JV team.

So that makes it now ISU in the top 5 for B. Lee, Carr, Sasso, Shannon, Teske, Brooks

Have to think most of those are excited about Metcalf (also the rest of the staff) - the first 3 for sure have Metcalf ties

He'd slot in nicely at 184 if we don't get Hidlay--4-year starter following Wilcke assuming he takes a redshirt following his OTC year (or beats Wilcke as a freshman and doesn't redshirt). That's what makes our non-contact all the more puzzling. Oh, well, I give Brands very clear instructions on this board to make his job easier, but I can only lead a horse to water :)

Solid speculation but maybe TnT should reach out to him and his family to find out for sure...

Umm.....maybe, never even thought of this. The recruits he is pulling in year after year is unprecedented and staggering. Wonder why he wasn't able to do this at ISU- fertile ground and/or pull in some PA talent? Heck even John Smith and T. Boone haven't been able to come even close to this. So yes, he must have ties to the FBI....

Wait he isn't already 30?
Just for fun ...

Mark Hall was 20 years and 3 months old when he won an NCAA title as a freshman.

Here's how old each of the projected starters for Iowa this year were (or will be) at the NCAA tournament their freshman years:

Perez Perez, 20 years, 5 months
Carter Happel, 21 years, 1 month
Vince Turk, 20 years, 2 months
Brandon Sorenson, 20 years, 8 months
Michael Kemerer, 20 years, 4 months
Alex Marinelli, 20 years, 2 months
Kaleb Young, 20 years, 5 months
Pat Downey, 34 years, 5 high schools, 2 jucos, and 8 court appearances
Cash Wilcke, 20 years, 4 months
Sam Stoll, 20 years, 5 months

So by age relative to year of NCAA eligibility, Turk and Marinelli are one month younger than Mark Hall and everyone else in Iowa's lineup is older.
