From Lee and Teasdale which I'm stoked about and not to mention Mejia,Renteria,Wagner and Rathbun what is your thought on Alex Thomsen and Brody Teske's future. Your thoughts on what you think will play out.

Hopefully Thomsen could grow into a 149 and replace Sorensen! I'm not sure about Teske, Don't know a whole lot on him. But I just just don't think its likely we get both of them, unless they hit some big growth spurts. Of the two, I think Thomsen is likely to get into the 141-149 Range, which would work out pretty good for Iowa IMO.

In my opinion Teske is the best Iowa high school wrestler at the moment. Would love for him to continue the trend of Iowa light weights being the best in the country.

Seems most believe Happel will be @ @141. He would be a soph taking over for Sorenson @ 149. Of course this also assumes BS stays @ 149 & Kemerer goes to 157

It just seemed like around State tournament time most people were saying Alex Thomsen was a must get kid, likely a 4 timer. Will be ranked very high in his recruiting class overall. In state. He and Happel could battle for the 149 spot when he is a RSFR and RSSO and Happel is a RSJR and RSSR. Really Iowas focus going forward should be elite upperweight recruits for the next year or two. All in all our Lower and middle weights are set for the next 5-6 years, although I would like to add Thomsen to that list.

I also see Turk moving up to 149 once BS is gone. Happel only walks around at 146 so I think he may be a career 41.

Agree, Thomsen is a very active wrestler. Would love to have him on board. Was more wondering what weight Happel would end up, but my post was poorly worded.

IMO we have more talented wrestlers than there are spots from 125-149 to fill. When they all start battling for spots I wouldn't be surprised if we lose a couple of them, but it would mean that the guys who made it are high-AA guys.

I think they would both be great gets but Brody Teske would certainly have some competition in those light weights. Hey if all the stud light weights want to battle it out for a spot at Iowa I welcome them, but it will be a bit crowded 125-141

dang it willie you know the answer, if they want to come aboard come on. if you are scared of some tough competition ya probably don't belong anyway. easy for me to say

"still the thunder" - lol, good stuff.

Lol, didn't even notice that until your post. That could become an awesome catch phrase, i.e, I can't wait for the Hawks to Still the Thunder in Williams Arena next year against a the gophs.

How tall is Thomsen? He seems taller then most kids at his weight. I've never seen him up close. I suppose we will get a better view of his growth at Fargo. He's currently wrestling 38/45 in Freco season. Just got beat twice at 45 last weekend. It would be great if he's around 38 for folk this year. I love this kids activity

I don't see Turk at 149 unless he loses out at 41. He isn't a huge 41 by any means.
I would love to have Alex sign with Iowa. Especially if he can get to the 149 range.

Teske was at 106 as a Fr and 113 as a So. I see him as 125-133 in college. Given the logjam combined with 9.9 schollies I don't see him at Iowa. OK was mentioned in an article as a possible destination but without context.

Thomsen was at 113 as a Fr and 126 as a So. DMR projects him at 141-149 in college. He's 2 years behind Happel, 3 behind Turk and Kemerer, so there is more of a need (and oppty) there. He has mentioned IA. NE, tOSU as well as that he likes to watch PSU. I see him at Iowa.

If these 2 see themselves as bonafide DI starters, and they have any designs at all on going to Iowa, they'll have some serious decisions to make.

It is unfortunate that the State of Iowa isn't supplying the number of studs required to consistently win DI Team Titles at the moment, and unless some of them step up their game, Iowa isn't going to be an option for them without making some sacrifices (which they wouldn't be the 1st to do that).

After next years class graduates, Brandon Sorensen could be the only University of Iowa starter, who is from Iowa. That is very sad, IMO. But Iowa has to improve, and right now that means reaching out of state more than they ever have.

I am a huge fan of Alex! I really thought he was the best wrestler at state the past two years. I have posted before that he was a must for Hawks. In my opinion one of the best Iowa high school wrestlers I have seen.
Now, with what all has gone on with commitments, I'm not sure where he fits in ... unless he does keep growing and ends up in that 41-49 lb range.
It was interesting though that following the announcement yesterday he tweeted:
"I wonder where I will go to college" followed by a thinking emoji.

It is hard to reach your goals when you are not in the lineup. Would love to have all of them but we are set in the lightweights for the next 5-6 years.

Looking at the tournaments he's wrestled I'm pretty sure he's walking around at 136/137. The 145 bracket he got beat twice in he was wrestling up in JRs and it looked like they didn't have a 138 bracket. They still didn't appear to be very good losses regardless. I didn't realize he was still a Cadet either.

I'd love to have both Teske and Thomsen. Thomsen has done a bit more vs the non Iowa field than Teske. The thing to look at is this, Thomsen is the highest rated for his class in the state at #16, Teske is at #42. We got Happel at #36 and Devos is #22 for Freshman. If we don't go after #1 overall Lee and #3 overall Teasdale then they go to PSU or tosu or osu etc and we bank on just the Iowa kids then you are looking at an up hill battle on paper. Sure there is always a chance the lower ranked guys end up better but trying to beat the teams with top 10 overall guys with top 20 or lower guys has not been working. Iowa kids need to get better overall, hopefully some of the clubs getting going can produce kids at top 10 level more often. Bringing in these two young men is just what was needed. Sure you still try and get the best Iowa kids, you just can't rely on them only.

He's not even 1/2 done with high school. Do you feel like a tough guy ridiculing his intelligence??

Does it make you feel real big to call him mentally handicapped?

*Based upon the fact that anyone liking ISU more than Iowa clearly has diminished capacity.
