Michael Weathers, a PG from Miami University is transferring. Michael is from my area back home in Shawnee, Kansas. Michael was unbelievably slept on as a recruit as he didn't even have a recruiting profile. However, after watching him beat my alma mater (perennial bball power house) in the state tournament last year, i knew he was gifted. Michael averaged 16 ppg 4rpg and 4apg this year as a freshman and is a natural athlete who can break you down off the bounce. Michael was also named MAC freshman of the year. Bleacher Report even wrote an article about he was the most slept on recruit coming out of HS. Only issue with Michael is he has a twin brother who is likely going to have to go with him. Marcus, his brother, is no slouch averaging 10ppg this year but not quite high level D1 player.

Another prospect is Mike Lewis ii. Mike is from STL and played with Tyler Cook at Chaminade. Mike averaged 14ppg this year at Duqeusne. Mikes film is impressive as he seems to be an all around PG. Mike looks to be able to break you down off the bounce in the half court and also has a nice jumper (scored 31 points this year).

I would love to pick up either of these guys. Neither of them have burned their redshirt so they could come in next year and sit out. If I had to choose between one or the other I would take Weathers as he is an unbelievably smooth athlete who can play at a high level. Really hope Fran and his staff are aware of these two and possibly taking a look.

I'll play devil's advocate here a bit. So let's say we have a couple players' transfer opening up a spot. Admittedly I have not seen either of these players in action. I went a just too close at their stats. MW did 4.8 assts per game but also 4.8 TO's per game (maybe that was a typo but yikes that's a lot of TO's)! ML only 1.7 assts per game with 2.0 TO's per game. That's not many assts. Both shot FT's pretty well 77-83% but MW 22% from 3.............But this may be the biggest reason I don't like it. These two are listed at 165-175 pounds. JoBO is listed at 180. For those of you who INSIST JoBo slide over to play the SG, you would have a tough time playing either one of these pgs with JoBO. One of the 2 has to to guard the SG.

Don't think anyone is leaving we don't already know about. If someone else leaves, Connor takes the scholie. If you see 2 more leaving it might make some sense but that's a lot to have happen.

Looks like more of a shooting (or at least scoring) guard, maybe even more so than JBo. If we are going to somehow add a PG, I want someone who can play great on-ball defense and looks to distribute the ball on offense. Lewis can take the ball to the hoop, but he seems to be looking for his own shot, not shots for others. That ain't all bad.

JBo is our point guard. Would any of these transfer to Iowa to be a backup?
Exactly. The way Bohannon finished the season, I don't know what else he has to prove to people that he can play the 1. He had double-digit assists in each of the last 3 games. When was the last time an Iowa player has done that? Has it ever even happened? I know Armstrong had 2 in a row in the late 80s, but I am not aware of 3 in a row ever at Iowa. And Bohannon also hit 16 3s in those games and scored 25, 19, and 24 points. For the whole season, he was 2.3 assists to turnovers as a true freshman. He sure looks like he has the potential to be fantastic point guard for Iowa; just needs to get better defensively.

With JoBo back, Connor coming in, anticipated improvement from Williams and Moss and maybe Dailey-- we can't take a transfer right now unless two of our players transfer, which probably isn't going to happen.

No Vacancies!!!

No, no, no. ;) If two guys transfer. Connor gets scholarship #1 because I want to see if anybody complains about it. And then I want to see us hire A C Green's Dad away from UNI, presuming we have an opening. That way we can get A C in 2018 and have another excellent point guard that lot's of brilliant posters will complain about. :D
